Training base layer

The Training road cycling base layer will meet your needs on cold weather endurance rides.
Riding in cold weather means serious base training, which is why we have designed the Training base layer. With the right thermal protection, you can stay warm on your base training rides. Good perspiration management will also keep you dry.

Directions for use

It's challenging to offer advice on cold-weather clothing because it depends on your sensitivity to the cold.
However, here is some advice that applies to everyone:
- don't wear too many layers as you'll lose the benefit of your warm clothing, and you'll be uncomfortable.
- when road cycling or mountain biking, you should always be somewhat cold to begin with. You'll soon warm up when you've been pedalling for a few minutes, so starting a bit cold will be more comfortable in the long run.

The perfect combo

Most people find that a base layer under a winter jacket is what they need. It protects you from the cold when exercising, while also letting perspiration escape.
If you feel the cold, you could also wear a long-sleeved jersey, but this will stop perspiration from escaping. Instead, try different jacket thicknesses.

Essential, Training and Race ranges

You'll find three levels within our Van Rysel winter cycling base layers range.
Essential: the warmest products for low-intensity effort where you don't need to wick away perspiration or have high level temperature regulation.
Training: the perfect balance between warmth and perspiration wicking.
Race: the perfect balance between warmth and breathability. The idea isn't to remove perspiration, but to reduce it.

Product tests

Based at the Btwin Village in Lille, our product design team is continuously working to make cycling more comfortable for our users. Our obsession is to create products that respond to our users’ needs and eliminate hindrances to a good cycling experience.
We then test our products in the field, as we are convinced that only by subjecting them to real world conditions, like the ones you experience on your bike, can we continuously improve our products.

Care instructions

Machine wash at 30 C. Synthetic cycle. Turn the garment inside out. Use minimal laundry detergent. Do not add fabric softener. Hang dry in a warm, ventilated area. Do not tumble dry. Do not dry clean. Do not use bleach. Do not place on a heater to dry.

I love this base layer. Close fitting but very comfortable, wicks brilliantly and warm in very cold condition. Long in the body and more importantly in the sleeves.
