This product is not waterproof and will not protect you from heavy rain. This product is water-repellent.
If your cycling tights don't have a water-repellent coating, they are very likely to get soaked when riding in the rain. Even the best overshoes in the world won't fix that. Your tights will be touching your socks––the water will seep down into them.
This is why our winter cycling tights, our Racer cycling tights, are sold with a water-repellent membrane.

After getting caught in the rain on a couple of rides and ending up with puddles in my shoes, I decided to get some overshoes. These keep my feet warm and dry, and didn't cost too much. Definitely recommend, even for riding in cold, dry weather as they keep the wind out too.
