These are the perfect pair of shoes for gravel cycling where you would typically use MTB cleats.
Love the little details like the lace keepers and heel pull tab, a feature absent on many other similar models.
I have wide feet, and these can be considered to be standard European sizing (narrow) so I simply removed the insoles to give my forefoot more room and so far so good.
Would love to give the genuine leather version available in the European markets a try.
Please make US 8.5 (half size) because it’s matter. Long live half size! Thanks.

Pros, good looking shoe at an excellent price and one of a shrinking range of road shoes with the SPD clip, which is, in my view, better for touring.
Cons, i have a wide foot which I thought could be accommodated by the laces allowing for a looser binding at the top of the shoe. Although this does accommodate a wide foot it results in the shoe being splayed out around the ankle resulting in a poor fit. I should have sent them back immediately, but wore them a number of times as I wanted them to work out.
Bought these as a conversion to clip less peddles and have to say they are good, the sole is solid as expected for a clip less shoe and the tread and design is good for MTB bikes as gives good traction when walking across muddy trails.
A good friend gave me a road bike after many years of not cycling I was back. I wanted some clipless cleats but didn't want to spend an awful lot to begin with. These are a great start really comfy and I have just set up with pd m324 pedals very excited to go out in them
Very comfortable, off the bike, it is also able to walk on most surface but careful when the tiles are wet. Value for money.

Can't compare them to other brands but these work well for my needs!
I've used it for a few months now. I use it with a road bike because the recessed SPD cleats and level soles make them walkable unlike slick road shoes.
Starting with the positives, the price is very reasonable. The soles are stiff enough yet walkable. the inner sole padding is removable for easy washing and drying. The laces are sufficiently long to make tying easy, and an elastic hold-down band secures the laces from getting tangled in your chainrings. More on the laces below.
Now, room for improvement. Laces....They have to be tied quite tight, else the shoes feels loose some way into the ride, as the laces stretch a little. I would have preferred velcro straps instead as they're faster to secure than laces, and stiffer. Fit-wise, the shoes are narrow. I had to pick an oversize to accommodate my broad feet. In one of the shoes (think it's the right shoe) the cleat mounting plate does not slide the whole length of the slot, restricting adjustment range. Rubber soles would improve traction compared to these polyurethane ones. Finally, only Black colour offered. Why only black? It gets hot under sunlight, and is less visible to motorists, a safety concern. Come on Decathlon, why are ALL your cycling shoes FULL BLACK????? Yes, mountain bike shoes as well, ALL BLACCCCCKKKK...Traffic visibility is VERY IMPORTANT. Any little help goes along way.
Take reference from the Shimano M122 (white), my de facto standard cycling shoes so far, and Decathlon could have a great touring shoe :>
Thank you for taking your time to review our 500 SPD Road Cycling and Bike Touring Shoes! I am glad that you are happy with the product, and that it has served its intended purpose.
It is through feedback that we are able to constantly improve and serve customers like yourself better. We do sell velcro cycling shoes in Decathlon and they are the RCR 500 Road Cycling Shoes. Maybe you can consider that during your next purchase with us. Your feedback is greatly appreciated - we'll relay it to our design team to see how we can bring in more colours and change the material of the sole in our future designs.
I hope to hear from you more and hope to see you in our stores too!
Stay healthy, keep fit & stay happy always!

Good points: stiff sole, ok power transmission, not too heavy, resistant to windchill, hoping upper will be durable, ok to walk in, styling is nice and understated.
Needs more work for next version:
Lacing layout is poor tight toes with poor foot retention, elastic cross piece incorrect length and placement, could be more cleat adjustment, could be more less hard rubber on sole, what is going to happen when cycling in the rain no drainage and padding will hold on to water?
good shoe fit ..great bargain for my husband's new hobby
