SIZE MATTERS
Length 12 foot (3.60 m): carp rods between 11 and 13 FEET long are more suited to carp fishing from the bank. Rods of this length tend to be more powerful for reaching long range swims.
The dismantled length of the rod is 1.25 m
WEIGHT: 355 g
REEL HOLDER: The metal reel holder is attached. Reels are secured on the rod by a screw locking ring
A WONDERFULLY FLEXIBLE ROD
The flexibility of semi-parabolic action rods such as the Extrem-5 Telescopic makes for easier casting. Good compromise between flexibility (playing the fish) and achievable casting distance.
The semi-parabolic action lets the rod bend more in the middle
SIZE AND GUIDES OF THE RINGS
Butt ring 40 mm then 25 mm, 16 mm, 12mm. The distinguishing features of SEAGUIDE rings are that they are lightweight and highly resistant to braid. You can use braid on your reels with no fear of damaging your rings. This is a prime criterion of choice if you use braid regularly.
The rings are attached via three legs. These 3-leg guides are stronger for greater resistance to heavy duty casting.
POWER
The test curve of your rod is a gauge of two different but complementary characteristics:
- The ability to resist a tension force similar to wrestling with a fish.
- The rod's ability to cast a weight over a certain distance.
The 3 lb test curve will enable you to cast up to 100 g over 100 m and master big fish with ease.
PRESS-FIT TYPE
Inverted press-fit: The lower (bigger) section has a slimmer cylindrical piece added to the upper end. This spigot press-fits into the end of the upper section. The spigot joint improves the through action of the rod.
CAUTION! Before casting, check that the joints are properly assembled. A badly inserted spigot is the main cause of rod breakage.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT ROD FOR YOUR HEIGHT
It is often said that the longer the carp rod, the further you can cast.
But it is mainly your size (and your centre of gravity) that determines how far you cast.
For example, if you are under 1.70 m (5'7") tall, you will find a 13 foot rod less comfortable than a 12 foot rod. It will shift your centre of gravity towards that upper part of your body.
This means it will take more effort to use and cast.
MAINTENANCE
Everyday care is simple: just clean your rods with warm soapy water, and then rinse and dry them carefully, paying special attention to the joints.
This step is very important to make sure you remove any sand that can damage your rods
