TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

What is the difference between a freestyle scooter and a "normal" scooter?

The differences between a freestyle scooter and a classic scooter are similar to those between a BMX bike and a city bike.
A freestyle scooter has wider handlebars and smaller wheels (making it easier to handle). Its weight is also different (it is lighter) and it is more manoeuvrable. Since the purpose is to do tricks, the handlebars can turn 360°, for example.
Freestyle scooters are also sturdier and more rigid.

Choosing the right size freestyle scooter

To choose the right size freestyle scooter, stand on it and check that the handlebars come up to hip level, with your arms stretched out and your back straight.

What type of fork does this scooter have?

Reinforced T6 aluminum fork. Fork compatible with 125 mm diameter wheels max (integrated spacer system.
The spacer sits between the two bearings to relieve pressure on these bearings).

What is a flex brake system?

A "flex brake" is designed to return to its original shape after each squeeze. The main difference compared to a spring brake is that it limits vibrations. This system also stops the rubber on the wheels from wearing out so quickly.

What kind of pegs come with this freestyle scooter?

Two aluminum pegs of two different lengths, one for the front (the longer one) and the other for the back (the shorter one). The 36 mm diameter keeps things more stable on grinds and makes it easier to learn tricks.

What kind of handle does the MF3.6 scooter come with?

The ribbed TPR handles give you good grip.

What type of collar clamp is used?

2-screw MF3.6 collar clamp made from 6061 T6 aluminum.
Shim to make it compatible with handlebars measuring 31.8 mm to 34.9 mm in diameter.

What size are the wheels?

Oxelo 120 mm diameter, alloy core (wheel with spokes), high rebound PU 88A wheels.
The wheels are mounted on 608Z ABEC-7 NMB bearings for a long lifespan. This wheel size is more stable and faster for freestyle scootering.

Why are there different wheel sizes?

100, 110, or 120 mm? The bigger the wheel's diameter, the more stability the rider will have, which helps them go faster...
The downside is the weight. A bigger wheel will be heavier and harder to manoeuvre when doing tricks. The wheel size should therefore be chosen based on your aims.

What is the deck made of?

The flat deck is made from anodized 6061 T6 aluminum. Triple-channel structure with 4 rails for better stability and a better slide on grinds.
The deck is designed to be easy to grab when doing tricks.
Dimensions: 115 x 530 mm. Deck angle: 82.5°.

What are this scooter's handlebars made from?

One piece T-bar (handlebars) made out of chromoly steel CrMo 4310 NOAP. The handlebars are heavier yet sturdier than aluminum for safety. Dimensions: Ø: 31.8 mm, H: 650 mm, L: 560 mm. Overall height: 915 mm

How do you limit play in steering?

The MF3.6 1-1/8" integrated headset has a new HIC compression system that prevents it from becoming too loose. The advantage is that the self-locking screws prevent the scooter's parts from working loose.
This system should be tightened as soon as you notice any play in the headset. Simply take the bar off by unscrewing the collar clamp, then tighten the self-locking screw.
Plus it's really easy to adjust!

The scooter complies with EN 14619. What does the standard cover?

The EN 14619 standard defines the safety requirements and test methods for roller sports equipment.

What safety precautions should you take when doing freestyle?

You should always wear protective equipment (helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads) when scootering.

Most serious accidents take place during the first few months of use: spend time learning the basics so that you can control your speed and brake in emergency situations in all weather conditions (particularly on wet terrain).

How much does this freestyle scooter weigh?

4.2 kg

Beautiful scooter, very well made.
Broken brake after 4 months
Paul (United Kingdom) Used for 4 to 6 months
My son has had this scooter for 4 months, and has enjoyed riding it, but there is a serious design issue with it. The brake has sheared off after only 4 months and to make matters worse the replacement part is now completely out of stock everywhere, leaving us with an unusable scooter. If you read other reviews of the scooter and of the replacement brake, you will see people complaining about the same thing and Decathlon replying to acknowledge that there is an issue with it.

To be fair to Decathlon they have been good at initially attempting to get a replacement brake, but now agreeing to take the scooter back for a full refund.
