Making dyes more environmentally-friendly

We work on finding innovative ways to reduce the use and pollution of water during manufacturing. The “dope dyeing” technique (mass pigmentation) saves up to 60% water and significantly reduces CO² emissions. This also reduces colour fading over time.
In 2019, we started using this process on the black, navy, red/grey, denim, green/blue versions (efforts to master this technique on other colours are still continuing).

How is volume measured?

The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardized method: the main compartment and all the pockets are filled with little balls. These balls are then emptied into a graduated container to get the equivalent volume in litres.

How to adjust your backpack

1 - Loosen all the straps (straps, belt, and load adjuster straps).
2 - Put the backpack on.
3 - Tighten the shoulder straps.
4 - Adjust the load adjuster straps as needed.

How to pack your backpack

Put heavy items at the bottom. Pack your clothes around these items. Keep your waterproof jacket and/or fleece in an easy-to-access location. Place small frequently used items in the pockets (sunscreen, map, glasses, etc.).

Lab-tested

Validated the backpack’s components in the lab: fabric, buckles, straps, foam, and zippers. For example, we test the fabric’s resistance to abrasion and tearing, colour fastness when subject to UV light and washing, and waterproofing. We also check the resistance of its construction using a dummy that reproduces the movements of a hiker to replicate several years of wear and tear.

On this new model, we added a double zipper on the main compartment and a larger pocket bottom on the outside pocket. The aim is to not lose your belongings when opening your bag.

Design/zipper issue

The only complaint I have is that when you zipper this bag up, the zipper gets stuck a bit at the top where the handle is sewn in so you have to yank it passed that point every time. It's a bit annoying, but what did I expect for $5.00? A pouch for easy access to your water would be a great addition to the design, too. It's still a nice looking, small bag for short walks or city errands.

Super! This is the perfect size for a day hike- I fit an extra fleece, tuque, gloves, a water bottle, my lunch, and various other things (keys, cards, hand sanitizer, tissues, spare mask). It's comfortable and because it's so small, doesn't hang down past my tailbone like many packs. (I'm short). No chest or hip straps but it's so small and light the extra support isn't needed. Ideally it would have one interior pocket, but really, for less than the price of a sandwich, you can't go wrong.
