How to effectively protect your hands from the cold

in the same way you wear several layers of clothing when trekking, you can wear liner gloves under your gloves, that will act as a thermal base layer. This multi-layer system enables several layers of air to form around your hands, efficiently insulating them from the cold.
Wear big enough gloves so that your fingers don't get compressed. Compression reduces blood circulation in the fingers.

The right outfit

When physically active, the body produces heat. This is preserved thanks to the thermal insulation of the outfit. If your clothing is unsuitable, the body will get colder and blood flow to the hands will drop in order to retain heat in the central core. Gloves and clothing must be suitable to keep hands comfortable.

How is the usage temperature measured?

Our gloves are lab-tested using a thermal hand to measure their level of warmth. The temperature ratings (normal and limit) come from a study carried out with a test panel of 23 walkers exposed to temperatures ranging from 5°C to -20°C and 10 km/h winds. These temperatures are only valid when walking.
The Trek 500 gloves have a warmth rating of 1 out of 5.

Glove dexterity

The dexterity of a glove is its ability to manipulate objects. Our Trek 500 gloves were rated in a lab. The closer the dexterity rating is to 5, the more you can handle things with the gloves as if they were off. For example, we tested the Trek 500 gloves’ ability to easily put your jacket on and open it, handle bivouacking objects, eat and drink.
The Trek 500 gloves have a dexterity rating of 4 out of 5.

Ease of use

For quick and efficient dressing, pull the wrist strap with the opposite hand.

Did your gloves get wet?

Dry them in a dry place but avoid placing them on a heat source. This could damage the fibre and they could lose their shape.

This is my second purchase of the gloves. My first pair was abused through multiple hikes and has protected my hands from thorns. Sadly, I had to buy a new one because no amount of sewing can save my first pair since I put them through hell, lol. With that said, these gloves can withstand a good amount of abuse, provide a decent amount of warmth and the price is kind to my wallet. Plus, their XS size fits my hands perfectly. And I like the buckle feature so the gloves are kept together. Please do not discontinue this product.
