Why removable and 3-in-1?
It isn't one pair of mittens, but 3 pairs! In very cold environments, just one response to changing conditions isn't enough.
Thanks to our expert partner (66° Nord), we have developed Arctic mittens consisting of 3 types (M1 fleece mittens + M2 padded mittens + M3 extreme protection mittens) for even more protection and adaptability.
What are these 3 mitten types? why 3 layers?
M1: Fleece mitten + M2: padded mitten + M3 extreme protection mitten
M1 will have the advantage of softness and warmth from the fleece, ideal in camps or shelters too. The fleece dries quickly close to a heat source.
M2 will provide the greatest warmth; insulation lining designed with 100% very fine polyester fibres with a very high insulation capacity. It is a material that also dries quickly.
M3 is your barrier against water, very cold wind and aggressive vegetation.
Do these layers go one over the other?
YES!
They are worn on top of each other to get the best protection and warmth.
Our design team has also designed each mitten to be able to be worn on its own so you can fully benefit from each specific advantage of each mitten.
Our team specializing in polar region hikes has also focused specifically on guaranteeing the ease of fitting these mittens over one another.
Protection from the wind and snow
Glove (M3) was specifically developed for very cold conditions.
Our outer M3 has a very robust Arctic fabric that makes this glove windproof and waterproof. It has also been created with waterproof seams, essential for the overall waterproofing.
This design allows for the best balance of protection from the wind and dampness while guaranteeing a certain breathability or better moisture management.
Ease of use
All tightening systems and drawstrings are oversized—easy to handle even with thick winter gloves or mittens in the other hand
Sizing information
This pair of gloves was designed for Arctic conditions with a good fit that is not too snug, so that a pocket of air remains around the fingers. If you are highly sensitive to the cold, take one size up as long as it does not affect your ability to grasp objects too much.
Dexterity, Protection, and Resistance
The preformed design for the hands and fingers allows for a precise grip on sticks, pulk harnesses, picks, or rope.
The palm is made from leather with leather linings for more strength when using sticks, pulk harnesses, picks, or rope.
When handling items in a shelter, the leather also allows for greater protection than a 100% synthetic glove, very sensitive to the heat (cooking, etc.)
Suitable clothing
The body produces heat during exercise that can be preserved through the thermal insulation of the clothing. If your clothing is unsuitable, the body will get colder and blood flow to the hands will drop in order to retain heat in the central core. Gloves and clothing must be fit for purpose to keep your hands comfortable.
If you're unsure about size, it is always better to opt for a pair of hiking gloves that are slightly too big than too small.
