Is my jacket warm enough for winter hikes?
This jacked is padded. The fill is a synthetic polyester blend. The amount of air trapped depends on the size of the fibres. For the same mix of fibres, the thicker the fill, the more air is trapped, the warmer it is.
How does my jacket protect me from outdoor conditions?
Your jacket is designed with a waterproof material that keeps out water and wind. In the winter, to stay warm, you must also protect your head, hands, and feet. The warm and waterproof hood, elasticized cuffs, and high collar keep the cold out. Two pockets protect your hands from the cold.
How to dress properly for hiking in the snow
Whatever your cold-weather activity, use the three-layer principle:
Layer 1: A high-tech base layer to wick moisture away from the body to keep your skin dry.
Layer 2: A fleece or sweater to provide warmth and transfer moisture outwards.
Layer 3: A jacket to protect against outdoor conditions: rain, snow, and wind.
To eliminate moisture, the whole outfit must be breathable.
How can I be sure that my jacket is 100% waterproof?
A coating applied to the outer fabric of your jacket makes it waterproof. We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed in terms of the height of a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard).
The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. Material with a waterproofing resistance of 2,000 mm resists the pressure of 2,000 mm of water (Schmerbers). Validated in a shower test under 60 L/m2/hour of water, which is roughly equivalent to a two-hour rain shower.
Water often gets in through the seams. Does my jacket have taped seams?
Your jacket is waterproof thanks to the fully-taped seams. The inside seams are also sealed with waterproof tape, to make them watertight and prevent water seepage into more vulnerable areas.
To validate the waterproofing, a test is conducted that replicates the conditions of a two-hour rain shower. The jacket is also field-tested in all weather conditions to make sure its suitable for your activities.
Windproof:
A coating or membrane is applied inside to make the fabric water- and windproof. Technically, a waterproof fabric qualifies s windproof. Wind protection is very important due to the significant chilling effect wind can have on the body, active or at rest.
How to preserve the technical qualities of my jacket
Water repellency is a fabric’s capacity to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. It prevents the fabric from soaking up water, keeping it lightweight, warm, and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. The garment should be retreated over its lifespan (recommended after each wash). Products (spray or liquid) designed specifically for this purpose are available in our stores.
Practical details:
Reversibility jacket provides makes switching styles child's play. One side waterproof, the other side not. Attached hood, 2 pockets.
Will my jacket withstand regular use over the long term?
Durability tests are conducted on selected components: resistance to rubbing and abrasion, colour fastness, resistance to repeated washing. All these tests were conducted on the jacket’s material.
How does my product warranty work?
This product is guaranteed for two years from the date shown on the sales receipt. A product covered by the warranty will be repaired or exchanged free of charge. The warranty covers product defects, excluding those resulting from normal wear and tear or improper use.
Product environmental impact comparison score
The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An ABCDE rating shows the environmental impact of a product. Put forward by ADEME, it takes into account production, transportation, usage, and waste generated at the end of a product’s life. Decathlon is committed to this approach.
