I used these for a Tour du Mont Blanc fast-packing trip and they were excellent. They were a life saver on some unexpected sections of snow but also great on the ascents. The grip is very comfortable, and the anti-shock is brilliant. They did "collapse" two or three times
and I had to expand and lock them again, but in general, once you tighten them they stay there. What I hadn't realized is that, even when fully collapsed, they are still quite a bit longer than the Z-style trekking poles. So keep in mind they won't fit in e.g. a Salomon quiver. But for the few sections where I didn't want to carry them I was able to attach them to my Salomon Adv Skin 12 just fine.
