For more information on sustainable development: Recycled polyester
By recycling plastic bottles or partially recycled fabrics to produce our polyester, the use of petrol-based resources is reduced all the while keeping the material's breathability in practice.
For more information on sustainable development: Dope Dye
Textile dyeing requires a lot of water and also produces waste water from the dye baths. To reduce this environmental impact, we used a bulk dyeing process that adds the colour pigments when the yarn itself is being produced.
What type of padding is used for warmth?
Recycled wadding insulation is used to help keep your body warm (100 g/m² on the arms and 150 g/m² on the body). This synthetic polyester-based lining traps air based on the size of the fibres to insulate you from the cold.
Which components are added to the padding give it warmth?
Tthe partially taped seams, the sleeve adjustment, and the collar all offer additional insulation from the cold and wet for a greater feeling of warmth.
Coated jacket: what are the advantages of this coating?
The coating is a waterproofing material spread over the inner surface of a fabric. It prevents water from seeping into the garment but allows sweat to escape. So you stay dry for greater comfort while practising your sport.
How is the water resistance of a jacket measured?
A fabric’s resistance to water pressure is expressed in terms of the height in mm of a water column that can be supported by the fabric. The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a water resistance of 3000 mm therefore withstands the pressure exerted by 3000 mm of water.
Which parts of the jacket protect me from bad weather?
The 100 jacket was rigorously developed and assembled to prevent water from entering and to reduce wind chill so that you can withstand bad weather (rain, snow, wind, etc.). The waterproofness of this product was field-tested in various weather conditions over several days.
What is the water-repellent feature of my jacket for?
Water repellency is a material’s ability to shed water without absorbing it. This jacket features water-repellent components that extend its weather resistance. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its exterior surface. However, this property may deteriorate with use.
How can you reactivate your jacket's water-repellent properties?
Water repellency can be restored. To do this, put the jacket in the tumble dryer on a synthetics cycle for 10 to 15 minutes.
You can also use a waterproofing spray, sold in our stores: spray the product evenly over the entire garment, then allow to dry for 10 to 12 hours).
What is a breathable jacket?
This jacket lets perspiration escape. To see if a fabric is breathable, its resistance to evaporative heat (RET) is measured in a standardized ISO 11092 test. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. The 100 jacket has an RET of 12. However, Wedze’s technical solutions (zippers, vents, mesh) limit the condensation inside the garment and maximize breathability.
What is the fit of the 100 jacket?
Regular fit. The jacket’s sides fall straight and remain parallel rather than trying to follow the shape of the bust. This jacket is roomy enough to be worn over a first and second technical layer.
Staying warm on the slopes
To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-technical-layer rule:
- Layer 1 or second skin, to stay dry.
- Layer 2 or an insulating layer, to keep the heat in.
-layer 3: a layer that protects against the elements
Our products’ environmental impact
Different indicators are used to calculate the product's environmental impact over its entire life cycle. An ABCDE rating shows the environmental impact of a product. Put forward by ADEME, it takes into account production, transportation, usage, and waste generated at the end of a product’s life.
Decathlon displays this information voluntarily to help you identify products with lower environmental impact.
