3D hood and face protection
This Wed’ze ski jacket has a built-in 3D hood that tightens automatically. It moves with your head without obstructing it, to provide better protection in bad weather. It is compatible with helmets. The preformed hood with a high collar protects the face in case of intense cold or strong wind. The micro-perforated flap covering the zipper makes breathing easier while protecting the face.
Wide and adjustable, designed to fit over gloves. Stretchy cuffs create a perfect seal between the gloves and the jacket.
The snow skirt snaps closed at the jacket hem. It prevents snow and drafts from entering during winter sports, especially in the event of a fall. Pairs perfectly with salopettes to provide great protection for young freeride fans.
Built-in, removable jacket liner
60 g/sqm recycled wadding on the back and chest for good insulation. Ergonomic. Panel provides warmth and freedom of movement at the arms. Two breathable side panels provide effective ventilation. The padded collar and hood offer excellent comfort at the neck. Added benefit: 2 side pockets!
Water repellency is a material’s ability to shed water without absorbing it. Freeride jackets are made with water repellent materials that prolong their resistance to the weather. An additional technical feature that keeps you dry as long as possible! To maintain water repellency, treat regularly with products sold in our stores.
A fabric’s resistance to water pressure is expressed in terms of the height in mm of a water column (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A fabric with a waterproof rating of 10,000 mm is therefore resistant to the pressure exerted by a 10,000 mm column of water
To determine a fabric’s breathability, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). This is the garment’s capacity to allow perspiration to escape so that you stay dry. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. For example:
RET <9 = extremely breathable fabric
/ 9 < RET <12 = very breathable fabric /
12 < RET
<20 = breathable fabric / RET >20 = little or no breathability
How do we make a garment waterproof?
Together, the fabric, taped seams, and composition make this jacket waterproof.
The use of a waterproof zipper or one covered by a waterproof flap.
How do we make a garment breathable?
In addition to breathable materials, other technical features (zippers, vents, mesh) improve the overall ventilation of our Freeride ski jackets and pants. These ventilation features regulate the temperature inside the jacket and help to eliminate perspiration.
What is the difference between a membrane and a coating?
This Freeride jacket has a membrane: A membrane, a very thin plastic film (polyurethane), makes the material waterproof yet breathable. It has the advantage of being flexible, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than a coating, which is similar to having a layer of paint applied to the inside the fabric. It ensures both waterproofness breathability. It is often less expensive than a membrane and requires a liner to protect it.
Our products’ environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire lifespan using various indicators. An ABCDE rating shows the environmental impact of a product. Put forward by ADEME, it takes into account production, transportation, usage, and waste generated at the end of a product’s life. Decathlon displays this information voluntarily to help you identify products with lower environmental impact. Learn more at sustainability.decathlon.com.
What is the Recco system?
With RECCO® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Anyone buried in the snow equipped with RECCO® reflectors can be quickly and accurately located by the emergency services using the RECCO® tracker. RECCO® reflectors are not a substitute for an avalanche beacon. RECCO technology works as an additional safeguard, increasing the chances of being found in time. All our Freeride jackets and trousers are equipped with the RECCO system.
Tutorial on how to wash your waterproof garment
