TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

Sizing information

Parka style. Standard cut. Enough space inside to be worn with a very warm second layer, like a sleeveless down jacket or a padded technical jacket.

Are the hood and fur detachable?

The hood is detachable with press studs. It is trimmed with a detachable faux fur edging. The storm hood offers very good coverage and protection. The height is adjustable using an elastic cord and toggle, and the depth is adjustable using a hook and loop tab at the back of the head. Consequently, the space inside can be adjusted to be worn with warm headgear, such as a wool hat or trapper hat.
It is waterproof and all the seams are taped.

What is each pocket used for?

On the outside, there are:
- 2 warm pockets lined with fleece to warm the hands.
- 2 deep over-pockets with flaps, for storing a hat or a small water bottle.
- 2 large chest pockets with waterproof zippers for items that need to be protected from the rain.
- 1 shoulder pocket with a flap, for storing your sunscreen.
Inside, there are:
- 2 large mesh pockets, ideal for storing gloves.
- 1 phone pocket.

How does this jacket protect you from the cold?

In addition to its generous down/duck feather filling, there is a tightening system at the hem of the jacket with an elastic cord and toggles to block cold air from getting inside.
This jacket also has built-in lycra cuffs to prevent heat loss.
Its high collar will give you a feeling of warmth and protection at the neck. Finally, the central closing system is protected by a padded flap for protection against the wind.

An improved closing system thanks to your feedback!

This jacket was originally designed with a central double-slider zipper to be opened on both sides. You told us in your product reviews that it was difficult to handle and fragile. We improved it by replacing the zipper with a very durable central zipper, with a single slider for easier handling.

How is the temperature rating measured?

We tested the ambient temperature at which this jacket ensures thermal neutrality (the feeling of being neither hot nor cold) in a laboratory.This is how we were able to measure this jacket’s protection down to -25°C.In accordance with the ISO 11079 standard, we used the following conditions:walking at 5 km/h, no wind, cloudy. Jacket worn together with the following on top: long-sleeved T-shirt, shirt, and sleeveless down jacket; on the bottom: tights, underpants, and pants, plus a trapper hat.

How is the waterproof rating of the jacket measured?

We measure a fabric’s resistance to water pressure, expressed in terms of the height of a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. The main component of our jacket has a waterproof rating of 8000 Schmerber, which means it can withstand the pressure exerted by an 8000 mm column of water. This is equivalent to 100 L/m2/hour of water for 3 hours, like in a mountain storm.

Does the waterproof rating of the component guarantee that the jacket is waterproof?

In addition to a waterproof component, the seams of this jacket are taped and all the openings are protected (e.g., the flap on the zipper). This jacket has a remarkable waterproof rating and can withstand a shower test in the lab of 100 L/m2/hour of water for 3 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a mountain storm.

Component breathability

To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance, or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric’s resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape, and the higher the fabric’s breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric/9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric/12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric/RET > 20 = little or no breathability.

Quantity of feathers for each size

This is the quantity of feathers for each size of the jacket. XS = 372 g
S = 452 g/
M = 472 g
L = 500 g/
XL = 516 g
XXL = 551 g/
XXXL = 580 g

The advantages of duck down and feather filling

The durability and fill power properties of down give this jacket 3 qualities for hiking:
- The air trapped in the down and feathers provides thermal insulation
- Ultra low weight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack
- Ultra-compressible

Why is the hood filled with wadding and not feathers?

The thermal performance of wadding is not impaired when it gets wet. That’s why we used cotton wadding in our hood. If you leave the hood open during a shower, it will soak up water, given that the lining isn’t waterproof. A feather hood would quickly lose its thermal properties. This is not the case with wadding.

I am just dumb struck by the stupidity of other reviews on here, moaning about the coat being too warm and sweating, have bought this coat for completely the wrong purpose. These are the sort of idiotic people that find themselves caught out and require rescue, and should just stay and home. I would not normally bother with a review, but the negatives this receiving by people who are not that smart means it needs 5 stars to pump it up. Bought for the right purpose, at this price it is a great coat.
Warm but not for long
Alvis (Latvia) Used for More than 1 year
I was really happy with the jacket at the beginning. Warm and perfect for winter up to -20 degrees. Felt really comfortable. But then slowly all the filling started to drop, leaving the shoulder part thin and the waist part really thick. Same with sleeves. Upper part got thin and the part bellow elbows got thick with the filling. The result is, that the jacket is not holding the warmth as it was before.
Good Quality Product

Best Purchase So Far
Ankit (India) Used for 2 week or less
Liked the jacket due to its finishing, durability and warmth. However my suggestion is to take L size if you are planning to buy XL.
Best Stuff Seen So Far
Ankit (India) Used for 2 week or less
I ordered it for myself with XL size but it turned out to be bigger. Reordered a smaller one waiting for that to arrive. I would recommend it because of the finishing and durability of product which seems to be long lasting.
Nice jacket, but colour not like in the photos
Chris (United Kingdom) Used for 2 week or less
Very warm and comfortable jacket, but it’s almost black in colour, and nothing like what you see in the photos. I can only see one other review making this same comment, and wonder if there is a new batch with darker colour?
Much darker grey than in the photos - almost black
Duncan (United Kingdom) Used for 2 week or less
The photos were possibly edited by someone who hadn't seen the product with their own eyes! When it says "Carbon Grey", think of the colour of the "lead" in a pencil. It really is near black.
very good product
Rishabh (India) Used for 3 to 8 weeks
It provides warmth in even-11C and at Rohtang pass It provides full warmth and so much warmth that i got sweating during -6 C
