Is my parka warm enough for winter hikes?
This jacket was developed for intense winter conditions: extreme cold, snow, wind. Insulation is provided by the thick synthetic padding that traps air.
A long inner flap beneath the zipper blocks cold air. The tightening at the bottom, the finishing touch, ensures your parka is comfortable.
How does my parka protect me from outdoor conditions?
Waterproof material keeps out water and wind. To stay warm in winter, you must also protect your extremities (head, hands, feet). The hood with removable synthetic fur, wrist cuffs, and stand-up collar all keep out the cold. The fleece-lined, high hand warmer pockets perfectly protect your hands in a comfortable position.
How can I be sure that my parka is 100% waterproof?
Coating on the outer fabric makes this extreme cold parka waterproof. The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. Components with a 2000 mm rating can withstand the pressure from a 2000 mm column of water (which is equivalent to a rain shower lasting 2 hours).
Water often gets in through the seams. Does my parka have waterproof seams?
Taped main seams ensure that your parka is waterproof. The inside seams are also sealed with waterproof tape, to make them watertight and prevent water seepage into more vulnerable areas.
The parka is also field-tested in all weather conditions to make sure its suitable for your activities.
A practical parka with smart details
Practical and smart details: 2 hand warmer pockets, 2 outer pockets with a flap, 1 closing inner pocket, 1 mesh inner pocket to keep your belongings handy.
The main zipper has a long cursor. A double cursor provides ventilation. This is also very useful for bending over or sitting down comfortably.
A comfortable, lightweight, and flowing extreme cold parka.
This parka’s comfortable fit is designed to be worn with a warm second layer like a fleece or a light down jacket.
Its longline style is ideal for protecting you from the cold and wind during winter hikes in large hilly areas or in the mountains.
Lightweight and flowing, this parka is easygoing and comfortable in every situation.
Will my parka withstand regular use long term?
We test for durability: resistance to rubbing and abrasion, colourfastness, resistance to repeated washing. All these tests have been conducted on the parka’s material.
How to preserve the technical qualities of my parka
Water repellency is a material’s ability to shed water without absorbing it. This keeps the fabric from soaking up water, so it stays lightweight, breathable and warm. A fabric is made water-repellent by applying a treatment to its outer surface. This treatment needs to be reapplied throughout the product’s lifetime. Products (spray or liquid) for this purpose are available in our stores.
How to dress properly for snow hiking
Whatever your cold-weather activity, use the three-layer principle:
Layer 1: A high-tech base layer to wick moisture away from the body to keep your skin dry.
Layer 2: A fleece or sweater to provide warmth and transfer moisture outwards.
Layer 3: A jacket to protect against outdoor conditions: rain, snow, and wind.
To eliminate moisture, the whole outfit must be breathable.
How does my product warranty work?

Our products' environmental impact
The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An ABCDE rating shows the environmental impact of a product. Put forward by ADEME, it takes into account production, transportation, usage, and waste generated at the end of a product’s life. Decathlon displays this information voluntarily to help you identify products with lower environmental impact. Learn more at http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
