Waterproof component

We measure the resistance of a fabric to water pressure expressed in mm of water column (test based on Standard ISO 811). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. Components with a 2000 mm rating can withstand the pressure of a 2000 mm column of water (which is equivalent to a rain shower lasting two hours).

Water resistance of the jacket

This garment has been subjected to a shower test using 60 L of water/m²/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a rain shower in winter.

Additional recommended products

Care products: spray or liquid water-repellent treatment in the washing machine. To renew the fabric's water-repellent properties and optimize your clothing's performance throughout its lifetime, we recommend using these products at least at every wash.

A score for comparing products' environmental impact

The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using various indicators.
An overall ABCDE rating is given to help you easily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing the same types of product (T-shirts, pants, backpacks, etc.).

Disappointing
Wearer (United Kingdom) Used for 3 to 8 weeks
This item is well made, and the outer pockets have openings well covered. The hood is spacious enough to cover eye protection without any drips. The neck protector is strong enough to stand up well. The garment is nicely snug, and just about wide enough to cover a bum bag, The arms can be efficiently sealed. It appears to be sufficiently waterproof, and drops of water form on the jacket as opposed to being absorbed.

The picture of the jacket looks wierd to me - incorrectly implying that the sleeve of the jacket below the elbow is different to that higher up. But that's probably just me being pedantic.

However, the pockets are very disappointing. They are all made of a seemingly flimsy inner material, and it looks like a bunch of keys would trash them. The two small upper pockets are seemingly of different sizes: for example, a passport would only fit into one of them. The two lower ones are also not very roomy. A bobble hat and a pair of gloves was too large a volume. The angle of these lower pockets are such that you need a dextrious approach. The inner phone pocket is too shallow: my mobile would only be emplaced vertically, and when it slid to the horizontal nearly came out (the single press-stud placement is just in the wrong place).

When I used the size guide, it suggested an eXtra Large size was apt. I ignored this and went for 2XL. This was far too short. It would not even cover my standard length size fleece, not mentioning the entrace to my trouser pockets. I would have preferred another 5cm length at least so the rain drops coming off the jacket would not get into my trouser pockets.

So I suggest thinking carefully about whether or not the length of the jacket is suitable and the smallness of the pockets are factors in purchasing this waterproof and windproof item. .Regretably, despite the quality of the garment, pockets/length are probably a show-stopper for this reviewer.
Exceptional versatility.
Barry (United Kingdom) Used for More than 2 years
Had to double check technical attributes of this coat a year or so after buying as I'd forgotten that I'd bought it specifically as a warmer waterproof coat. I'd started to just see it as a smart shower proof coat to go to the pub in as it looks so good on. Suits a slimmer build, arms slightly longer than I like,(but then I've got quite short arms). Still looks as good as new, had over 2 years.
