Intermediate surfers

At the intermediate level, you surf on a regular basis. During your sessions, you paddle out to the lineup and feel comfortable duck diving or turtle rolling under waves. You can handle currents and frequent falls. Intermediate surfers need swimwear that will stay in place, no matter the strength of the wave. We offer a wide range of swimwear for intermediate surfers of all body types.

Choosing a UV-protection shirt Part 1

All our UV-resistant T-shirts are UPF 50+, meaning they offer maximum sun protection.
They have varying sleeve lengths and are suitable for different water sports. That said, our line was primarily designed to meet the specific needs of surfers.

Choose your T-shirt based on the duration of your surf session: 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours.

Choosing a UV-protection shirt Part 2

1 hour: Occasional practice. Choose between a loose fit (easy to put on, comfortable when dry) and a tight fit (comfortable when wet). A loop allows you to fasten your shirt to your shorts.
2 hours: Regular practice. The drawstring and seamless underarm panels improve fit and comfort when wet.
3 hours: Intensive practice. Extra warm so you can stay in the water longer.

Anti-UV even when wet.

This Olaian rash guard blocks at least 98% of UVB rays and 95% of UVA rays (UPF 50+), guaranteeing effective protection from the sun. Ideal for water sports, it can be worn in or out of the water.
The density of the textile fibres filters out UV rays for long-lasting protection, even after washing.The elastane may deteriorate in chlorinated water.

What does UPF 50+ mean?

UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) is an international standard that measures the proportion of UV rays a fabric lets through to your skin.
A UPF of 50+ means that the fabric blocks at least 98% of UVB rays and 95% of UVA rays.

Support and stability in waves.

This Olaian UV-resistant top has two side drawstrings that attach to swimsuit bottoms for greater stability in waves. A loop allows you to fasten your shirt to your shorts.

Suitable for multiple water sports

Our UV T-shirts meet the needs of the most demanding surfers. They’re compatible with many other water sports, including swimming, kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, water skiing, and stand-up paddle boarding.

Sun exposure advice

This top is UV-resistant, but it doesn’t provide total sun protection. Consider other factors like reflections (off water, sand, etc.), temperature, and time of day. Wearing this T-shirt is just one part of staying safe in the sun. You should also wear sunglasses and a hat or cap, apply sunscreen regularly, and drink plenty of water.

I am usually a size medium (but with decathlon, medium is fairly skin-tight). This top, however I purchased in a size large. I like the patterns and the slightly looser torso, but I find it stretches across my shoulders when the zip is done up, and this causes a bit of pulling on the sleeves. It also causes the sleeves to rise up above my wrist, exposing some skin to sunburn.
