Is my jacket warm enough for winter hikes?
A warm, insulated lining effectively protects you from the cold.
The field and lab tests conducted with a panel of users to measure perceived cold gauge the thermal insulation of our shoes. You now have an accurate measure of the temperature at which these shoes protect you. The comfort temperature rating for these shoes is: -3°C for this model.
How do your boots protect you from outdoor conditions?
A 100% waterproof mid-height cradle protects the part of the foot most in contact with the snow. The textile upper is water-repellent and warm for good protection against cold and snow.
How can I be sure that my boots are 100% waterproof?
To ensure your boots are waterproof, our laboratory tests simulated walking with the boots half-submerged in water. Field tests were conducted to measure wear and ageing. We tested three levels of waterproofness: 2,000 flexes (approx. 4 km walk), 4,000 flexes (approx. 8 km walk) and 8,000 flexes (approx. 16 km walk). Your boots were tested to 8,000 flexes, which is equivalent to 16 km of walking.
(Note: The upper is water-repellent)
What is the difference between traction and grip?
The boots’ traction depends on the number and shape of the studs. The grip depends on the materials of the sole and the tread pattern, like car tires. Traction optimizes propulsion, prevents slipping when going uphill, and stabilizes the boot.
Grip prevents the boot from slipping and skidding on smooth ground or in demanding conditions (rain, snow, ice).
Which type of grip and traction does this boot provide?
Your boots with Snow Contact soles provide maximum grip comfort for hiking and traction on snow. Designed to prevent slipping, the surface and tread perfectly grip hard snow and evacuate excess water, grip the layer of hard snow and evacuate excess water to avoid slipping.
What are the advantages of Snow Contact technology?
The material and tread of Snow Contact soles are specifically designed for optimal grip and traction. Snow Contact soles are more effective than traditional soles on snow. When walking on ice, adding anti-slip grips to your boots is the only way to ensure optimum safety.
Will my boots withstand regular use over the long term?
This product was lab-tested by our engineers to ensure your complete satisfaction. We tested the following elements: quality of eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and upper components, and accelerated ageing.
How do I choose the right footwear for snow hiking?
To be well equipped in winter, follow these principles:
Warmth: wear warm socks (ideally with a good percentage of wool)
Breathability: Choose socks based on the intensity of the hike and, to minimize moisture, make sure they’re breathable.
Boot height: the height of the sock should correspond to the height of the boot, so for more protection, choose higher socks.
How to preserve the technical qualities of my boots
A fabric’s water repellency is its capacity to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. This keeps the fabric from soaking up water, so it stays lightweight, breathable and warm. A fabric is made water repellent by applying a treatment to its outer surface. This treatment needs to be reapplied over the lifetime of the product. Products (spray or liquid) for this purpose are available in our stores.
How does my product warranty work?
This product is guaranteed for 2 years from the date shown on the sales receipt. A product covered by the warranty will be exchanged free of charge. The warranty covers product defects, excluding those resulting from normal wear and tear or improper use.
Our products' environmental impact
The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An ABCDE rating shows the environmental impact of a product. Put forward by ADEME, it takes into account production, transportation, usage, and waste generated at the end of a product’s life. Decathlon displays this information voluntarily to help you identify products with lower environmental impact. Learn more at sustainability.decathlon.com.
