Grippy soles on flat natural trails
The sole’s design is the result of extensive research conducted in our labs. It's composed of a specific rubber formula that optimizes grip and traction. Given the variety of different needs, we always seek the best balance between muddy off-road trails (like a forest path) and rocky trails (like a coastal path).
Designed for use on easy nature trails
Our walking shoes are designed for use on off-road trails. We choose the sole and upper components for our footwear and test them to ensure they're perfectly suited to walking on loose trails (e.g. unpaved forest paths) or rocky trails (e.g. rocky coastal paths). Wearing them on paved roads could cause premature wear and discomfort. They're not suitable for mountain hiking.
Lab tested
Lab tests are conducted to test the following elements: secure attachment of eyelets and straps, adhesion, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and the components of the upper, and accelerated ageing. These tests allow us to improve the quality of our products and prevent our hiking shoes from wearing out prematurely.
How to choose the size of walking shoes
Try on both shoes, standing up, with your hiking socks on. Try several models and several sizes, if necessary. Check two comfort points:
- the fit on the heel
- the front of the foot when going downhill
Avoid all pressure points when fitting. Feel free to walk around the store. Break in your shoes gradually during their excursions to wear them in.
The shoe/sock combination plays an important role
There are multiple factors that contribute to the formation of blisters when walking: rubbing, a crease in the sock, moisture, a shoe size that is too small or too big, etc. So, it's important to choose the right size and wear socks made of the right material for your walking shoes.
How to choose the right size of walking socks
You need to choose the correct sock size for your feet to prevent any extra creases from forming. These creases may form because the sock is too big, so there is too much fabric around your foot, or because the sock is to small and gets pulled to the middle of your foot.
How to choose the right walking sock fabric
Moisture must be effectively managed when walking: We sweat, it’s bound to happen. If your shoe is breathable, it will wick away moisture from your perspiration. This means you need to choose socks that are also light and breathable. If your shoes are relatively waterproof, you'll make a different choice for rain protection: choose a sock that will absorb your sweat and wick it as far as possible away from your foot.
Which socks are adapted to the NH100 shoes?
These shoes are slightly breathable, but not enough to release all moisture created by your sweat. We recommend the NH100 Mid socks: they contain moisture-absorbing cotton and have a reverse terry-knit structure under the sock that wicks moisture away from your foot. They're also high enough to protect your ankles from the shoes. It's an excellent combination for reducing the chance of blisters.
