TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

Tread with grip

Certified sole grip. To earn certification, the shoes must pass lab tests to assess their grip rate on different surfaces (Smooth, Rough, Dry, Wet). To validate these tests, we have a panel of testers evaluate the quality of our soles out in the mountains across 500 km.

Waterproofing test

In a lab, the shoe is immersed in water to mid height while on a mechanical arm that simulates walking.
With this test, we can determine a length of time and number of km that the shoe can walk while staying dry.
-2000 flexes, about 30 minutes of hiking
-10,000 flexes, about 3 hours
-30,000 flexes, about 8 hours
-50,000 flexes, about 12 hours
Then we confirm that the shoe keeps its promises out on the ground and in the rain.

Making waterproofing last longer

To keep your feet dry, we recommend wearing waterproof gaiters or mini-gaiters that will protect the top of the shoe from incoming water, along with small stones, sand, etc.

You should re-waterproof your shoes twice a year using a waterproofing product (search for “waterproofing” on www.decathlon.ca), which will help restore the original water-repellent properties and prevent stains.

Evofit concept

This shoe is designed with the Evofit concept. With its stretch materials and specific design for the area of the foot where your joints are located, Evofit technology allows the shoe to perfectly fit the shape of your foot.

Which size should you choose?

The most important thing is to try on several sizes and models to find the best shoes for you.
You can choose a size up from your usual size to prevent your toes from hitting the tip of the shoe when going downhill, provided that your foot is still held securely in place to avoid friction.
Advice: keep your toenails short and, before a long descent, check that your lacing is tight enough to prevent your foot from sliding forward inside the shoe.

Buying advice/How to try on your footwear

Some Decathlon stores have a test trail.

1. Try on both shoes with your hiking socks on and stand up.
2. Tighten the laces evenly.
3. Check two points:
-the heel doesn’t lift up before the shoe when you walk uphill.
-the foot doesn’t slide and your toes don’t touch the front when you walk downhill.
4. Try on several sizes and models.

Break them in gradually to adapt them to your feet.

How to avoid blisters

Which socks?

Waterproof shoes are less breathable than non-waterproof shoes. For this reason, choose socks like the MH500, MH520, and MH900 with a high or medium cut (depending on the height of the shoes) to wick away perspiration and reduce friction.

Optimize your shoes: replace your insoles!

The original insole in your shoes is designed to fit most feet. Changing the insole may provide:
1. Improved support: some soles are preformed or reinforced to better support the arch of the foot.
2. More comfort: the insoles can also provide warmth and/or cushioning.
3. Longer life: restore the support and comfort of your shoes by replacing the insole each season.

-Clean marks using a brush and some warm water
-Leave out to dry
-Spray with a waterproofing product to restore the upper’s water resistance.

Years of loving Decathlon and then i had a run of experiences where atpck was unavilable, online ordering took forever and kept crashing, telling me stock was unavailable, using clcik and collect only to pick the goods off the store shelves.

So bought these boots as i usually just wear trainers when im hiking munros in scotland but thought i should upgrade as I’ve been doing a lot more recently and the winter is coming. Was drawn to these boots as they said they were waterproof, well, that is in fact not true. The boots may hold up in very light rain or walking through shallow puddles but within 10-15 minutes of the rain starting whilst climbing Ben Lomond today i was squelching along with full on puddles in both my boots. Beware there is a huge difference between WATERPROOF and WATER REPELLENT decathlon should know this and not be advertising these as waterproof as it is blatant false advertising. Due to how soaked my feet became and how soft the skin ended up i now have two great big blisters/wounds on each of my heels. Comfy boots otherwise when dry especially if you are flat footed like myself but do yourself a favour and spend a few extra pounds for a pair of proper waterproof boots by a reputable manufacturer if you plan on going out in anything wetter than a summer shower. Will be returning ASAP.
