TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

Outsole with grip

Certified sole grip. To be awarded this certification, footwear must pass laboratory tests to assess their traction on different surfaces (smooth, rough, dry, wet). To validate these tests, we assess the quality of our soles in the field and in the mountains over 500 km using a panel of representative testers.

Waterproofing test

In a lab, the shoe is immersed in water to mid height while on a mechanical arm that simulates walking.
We use this test to determine how long and how far the shoe can walk and still stay dry.
- 2,000 flexes, about 30 minutes of hiking
- 10,000 flexes, about 3 hours
- 30,000 flexes, about 8 hours
- 50,000 flexes, about 12 hours
We then take the shoe outside in the rain to confirm it holds up as expected.

Making waterproofing last longer

To keep your feet dry, we suggest you wear waterproof gaiters or mini-gaiters to protect the top of your shoes and prevent water from getting in, along with stones and sand.

We recommend you re-waterproof your shoes twice a year using a waterproofing agent (search for ‘waterproofing’ on www.decathlon.ca), which will help you restore the original water-repellent properties and help prevent stains on the outside.

What shoe size should you choose?

The most important thing is to try on several sizes and styles to find the one most suited to you.
You can choose one size up from your usual size so your toes won't bump the toe box when going downhill, as long as you still have the proper support to prevent friction.
Tip: keep your toenails short and, before a long descent, check that your laces are tight enough to keep your foot from sliding forwards in the shoe.

Buying tips/how to try on boots

Certain Decathlon stores have a test trail.
1. Try on both shoes, while standing, wearing your hiking socks. 2. Tighten the laces evenly.
3. Check two points:
- your heel doesn't lift up before the shoe when walking uphill.
- your foot doesn't slide and your toes don't touch the front when going downhill.
4. Try on several sizes and models.

Break them in gradually to adapt them to your feet.

How to avoid blisters

Which socks?

Waterproof shoes are less breathable than non-waterproof shoes. So you'll want socks like the MH500 with a medium-length upper for wicking away perspiration and reducing friction.

Optimize your shoes: replace your insoles!

The original insole in your shoes is designed to fit most feet. Changing the insole may provide:
1. Improved support: some soles are preformed or reinforced to better support the arch of the foot. 2. More comfort: the insoles can also provide warmth and/or cushioning.
3. Longer life: restore your shoes' support and comfort by replacing the insole each season.

Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back

If you don't need the product or if it doesn't meet your needs, you have 365 days to exchange or return it to any Decathlon store.

How to care for your shoes

- Leave to air dry.
- Remove dry mud with a stiff brush.
- Clean marks using a brush and some warm water
- Leave to dry
- Spray with a re-waterproofing product to restore the upper's water resistance.

It Gets Hot - As Its Waterproof/Not-breathable
Prashant (India) Used for 2 week or less
No doubt its comfortable and awesome for hiking/walking. In India one can use it "only" in colder places, as it gets really warm and may cause blisters. Also found inner sole to be a bit slippery while walking despite right and comfortable shoe size and appropriate socks, can be improved using better materials.
I specially wanted to thank and appreciate the Return Facility Decathlon provides. Loved it. Keep up the good work.

Bought these as can only buy online at the moment so didn’t want to “risk” spending a lot of money for a poor fit. They’ll do the job until the stores reopen and I can get a pair of decent shoes (e.g. Salomon) with a proper fit. Not bad overall, but not sure they’ll last too long.
