Hybrid sole
Sometimes surprises along your way leave you no choice but to push or carry your mountain bike. Our hybrid sole is inspired by trail running (for grip on the ground) and mountain biking (for grip on the pedals) to keep you comfortable and supported whether walking or cycling. The heel stiffener and flex grooves keep you comfortable when walking. And its grooved multidirectional lugs drain water and mud whether going uphill or downhill, walking or cycling.

In addition to giving you traction when walking and pedalling, the ST 500 shoes will also let you ride worry-free: the durable shell limits impacts and abrasion. The elastic sockliner all along the opening makes it easy to slip them on and prevents dust and pebbles from getting in. To prevent unintended snags, tuck the quick-lacing system into the tongue!

Clipless pedals
When you start mountain biking, clipless pedals aren’t necessarily a priority. This is why these shoes grip the pedals well, even without cleats. And if you want to take the plunge, the sole has a rigid section for fixing cleats without adjusting everything! Easily mount your SPD cleats with the 2-hole design and reference points engraved onto the sole.

Description claims it can be used with platform pedals. However I found the grip to be very poor on two different sets of mountain biking pedals while doing technical mountain biking - far worse than the old, worn out trail running shoes I used previously. Pretty disappointing
and clearly not designed for this purpose, and some pretty misleading advertising. Otherwise it is a nice shoe, and if you intend to use it with clipless pedals and/or on easy trails and smooth roads, then I'm sure it would work well. Unfortunately for me it is useless unless I decide to try clipless pedals while mountain biking, which was not my original plan.

Before these I also purchased the ST100 which are a pair of very basic MTB shoes. These ST500 have the same bottoms but better looking and ventilation. There is also this shoe laces quick release thing and pockets to store the shoes laces very convenient. I worried the additio
nal use of mesh would result in them not able to keep my feet warm but it seemed to be ok so far.

C'est mon premier chaussures de vélo avec clip, j'ai mis les clip SPD qui venaient avec mes pédales à clip. J'ai fais une couple de 100km avec, je peux dire que pédaler avec les clips c'est super. J'aime bien le système de lacet avec ces chaussures, pas besoin de faire de
noeuds. Assez comfortable car j'ai pris taille 9.5 qui est 0.5 plus gros, mais j'ai des pieds un peu large, je me sens pas serré ni trop lousse. Les souliers ont l'air normal aussi et comfortable juste à marcher avec. Je ne suis pas expert en cyclisme. Pour le prix et la qualité qu'on s'attend de Décathon c'est parfait.
