When you run, each impact with the ground generates a shockwave equivalent to three times your weight. The impact runs from the heel to the top of your spine. These shock waves are extremely hard on your joints. A good pair of running shoes is key for absorbing shocks and dispersing vibrations.

There’s a shoe for every sport! When fitness walking, the foot rolls through a full heel-to-toe motion and flexes significantly. Walking shoes should be extremely flexible to move with your foot.

We select and test the sole and upper components to ensure they’re perfectly suited for walking on unpaved trails, such as forest paths, and rocky trails, such as coastal paths. Wearing them on paved roads could cause premature wear and discomfort. They’re not suitable for mountain hiking.

Laboratory tests were conducted for following elements: attachment of eyelets and webbing, assembly, toxicology, UV resistance, sole and upper component abrasion, and accelerated aging. 
We use these tests to improve the quality of our products and prevent the premature wear of our hiking boots.

Durability testing

These boots are slightly breathable but not enough to wick away all the moisture created by sweat. Wear them with the Hike 50 Mid Socks: they contain moisture-absorbing cotton and have a reverse terry-knit structure underneath that wicks moisture away from your feet. They’re also high enough to protect your ankles. High socks reduce the chance of blisters.

Our country hiking books provide superior comfort. We added various elements to keep your feet comfortable, such as the EVA insole (flexible thermoplastic) and heel pad.
We also made the insole removable for improved hygiene (so you can wash it).

Our hiking sandals are designed for use on footpaths. The components of our soles are chosen and tested for hiking on soft footpaths (e.g., earthy woodland paths) or rocky trails (e.g., coastal paths). Frequent use on pavement will cause them to wear out faster.
Do not use them on mountain trails with many elevation gains.

Our hiking boots are designed for use on hiking trails. Designed for hiking

The following aspects were tested in the lab: tear resistance of eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of the outsole and upper components, and accelerated aging. We use these tests to improve the quality of our products and prevent the premature wear of our hiking boots.

We use nubuck leather. It has a soft, silky feel. The leather used for these boots comes from cows. No animals are killed to produce this leather: we only use waste products from the food industry.

After your hike, we recommend that you
- Let your boots dry near a heat source.
- Use a hard-bristled brush on the dry leather to remove any mud or dirt.
- Use a soft-bristled brush or nubuck eraser to remove any stains.
- Clean stubborn stains using a brush and a little bit of warm water.
- Let the boots dry.
- Brush them again with a hard-bristled brush.
- Spray with a waterproofing product: this will make the leather shine and brighten up the colour.

Maintaining your leather boots

You need to manage dampness as best as you can when walking: you will sweat—it’s inevitable.
The NH 500 boot is breathable; it will wick away moisture. It is important to choose socks that are also light and breathable. We recommend the Hike 100 low or mid socks. They are made with moisture-absorbing cotton and have a reverse terry-knit structure that wicks moisture away from your foot. They’re high enough to protect your ankles from the boots.

The feminine cut of this jacket suits different body types. You can wear a warm layer underneath, such as a fleece jacket or light sweater. The interior lining also improves comfort. 
You can choose your usual size or one size up if you want a looser fit.

Detach the hood using snaps. Adjust the height using an elastic cord and adjust the depth with the hook and loop tab at the back.

This jacket is made with 2 coated layers, including a large mesh lining. 
That means the jacket has an outer fabric and a lining. 
A coating similar to resin is applied to the inside of the fabric, making the material waterproof yet breathable. The jacket’s inner lining protects this coating.

Waterproofing is measured by a fabric’s resistance to water pressure expressed in mm of water column. The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. 
The component of this product has a waterproof rating of 5,000 mm: it can withstand the pressure exerted by a 5,000-mm column of water. 
This is also equivalent to 5,000 Schmerbers.

Waterproofness test

Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). 
This allows perspiration to escape during physical activity and prevents it from accumulating on the skin. 
The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric.

Breathability test

The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. This keeps the fabric from soaking up water so it stays lightweight and breathable. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface. However, this property may deteriorate with use.

How to restore the water repellency

The thermal insulation when stationary (-8°C) and when walking (-17°C) is based on field and lab tests conducted with users. This gives you an accurate measure of the temperature at which these boots protect you. The comfort temperature ratings for your boots are displayed. We take into account that men and women feel the chill differently.

Are my boots warm enough for winter hikes?

Your boots have a membrane to guarantee waterproofing and breathability. A membrane is a very fine component (5 to 25 micrometres) affixed to the inside of a fabric that prevents water from entering but allows moisture to escape.

How do my boots protect me from outdoor conditions?

Thermal comfort is a balance between warmth and breathability. Too much heat or not enough breathability lets moisture accumulate and cold set in. This membrane is designed with your activities in mind, preventing water infiltration and letting moisture escape.

We made sure that your boots are waterproof by conducting laboratory tests that simulate walking with the boots half-submerged in water. We also conducted field tests to measure wear and aging. We tested 3 levels of waterproofing: 2,000 flexes (approx. 4-km hike), 4,000 flexes (approx. 8-km hike), and 8,000 flexes (approx. 16-km hike). This boot has been tested for up to 2,000 flexes, which is equivalent to a 4-km hike.

Are my boots 100% waterproof?

A boot’s traction depends on tread number and shape. The grip depends on the sole materials and the tread pattern, like car tires. Traction optimizes propulsion, prevents slipping when going uphill, and stabilizes the boot. 
Grip prevents the boot from slipping and skidding on smooth ground or in demanding conditions (rain, snow, and ice).

What is the difference between traction and grip?

Equipped with Snow Contact soles, your boots provide maximum grip comfort and traction when hiking on snow. The strategic arrangement and height of the lugs (3 mm) ensure optimal grip when hiking on snow. The lugs provide optimal grip on hard snow and evacuate excess water to prevent you from slipping.

Which type of grip and traction does this boot provide?

The material and tread of Snow Contact soles are specifically designed for optimal grip and traction. Snow Contact soles are more effective on snow than traditional soles. When walking on ice, adding anti-slip grips to your boots is the only way to ensure optimum safety.
