Design

During intense physical exertion, dressing too warmly can actually make you feel cold. If perspiration can’t evaporate, it stays on your skin. Wear a liner jacket that you can take off in mild weather. Also make a habit of opening the vents before you get too hot and closing them before you get cold when switching from exertion to inactivity.

Directions

To stay warm and dry, follow the 3-layer rule: 
first, a base layer; second, a liner jacket layer for warmth; and third, a ski jacket to protect you from bad weather.
The base layer keeps you dry by wicking perspiration away from the skin to the other layers.
The second layer provides warmth. It could be a down jacket or fleece sweater.

What should you wear under your ski jacket?

This layer protects you from weather (snow, rain, and wind) by keeping it out but still letting perspiration escape so you don’t feel wet. Ideally, it should be waterproof and breathable. The third layer also insulates, with lined pants or jackets, and complements the second layer.

The third layer

This down jacket is filled with 90% down and 10% feathers. Fill power is a measurement of the down’s thermal insulation capacity based on its ability to trap a certain amount of air. Down with a higher fill power (a higher cuin number) takes up more space, traps more air, and therefore provides greater thermal insulation.

The down’s long-lasting fill power gives it 3 important advantages for freeriding:
- Thermal insulation, because of the air trapped in the down and feathers
- Lightness, because down is lighter than a synthetic but delivers the same warmth and saves even more weight in your backpack
- Compressibility

What advantages does the duck down and feather filling have?

Some tips: close all the zippers on your down jacket and put it in the washing machine (synthetic cycle at 30°C). 
 
Be sure to select a gentle spin cycle: a fast spin cycle creates clumps that are difficult to break up.

How to wash your down jacket

When you take your down jacket out of the washing machine, it will look as if the down has disappeared. The best way to restore loft and fill power is to tumble it dry. Put your down jacket in the dryer with 2 tennis balls for 2 or 3 drying cycles.
If you don’t have a dryer, you can always dry your down jacket on a clothes rack, regularly shaking it out and turning it over.

The side walls are foam-lined to ensure maximum protection for your equipment when handling the cover.

With this product, we used a minimal waste design method, which consists of piecing together the parts like a jigsaw puzzle to waste as little material as possible. We are now proud to offer our first jacket resulting from this method, with a 36% gain.

What is the fit of the 100 Ski Jacket?

A fabric’s water resistance is measured by the height of a water column in mm it can support (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. Fabric with a waterproof rating of 5,000 mm is resistant to the pressure exerted by a 5,000 mm column of water.
For skiing, we advise components rated between 3,000 mm and 20,000 mm. 

How is waterproofing of the fabric measured?

The 100 Ski Jacket was rigorously developed to keep moisture out and prevent wind chill so you can brave bad weather. We tested this product’s waterproofness in use over several days in various weather conditions. Using this test, we can confirm that the jacket protects you from snowfall or a light rain shower of 12 cm in 2 hours.

How is the water resistance of a jacket measured?

We lab test each of our products to provide you with a comfort indicator. This comfort indicator is measured without tights for pants, and with a thermal T-shirt and a fleece for jackets. The temperature indicated is the external temperature at which the testers were neither warm nor cold. Of course, the perceived temperature varies in line with the intensity of the activity and the metabolism of the individual.

How is comfort temperature measured?

The BL 580 Ski Base Layer Bottoms come in a slim fit. They stop at the knee to avoid overlapping layers (socks and base layer) and folds in your ski boot, which may affect comfort.

Polyamide is the strongest of all raw textile materials, even when wet, and it is very stretchy.
This breathable fibre manages moisture very well and provides good temperature regulation.

The BL 500 ski base layer has a standard straight cut that adapts to all body shapes. It’s not too loose, so it keeps in the heat effectively.

Polyester is the most commonly-used fibre for base garments because it is relatively inexpensive and offers excellent performance in various respects, and especially because the fibres can be knitted to obtain a very lightweight and durable fabric. It actively absorbs moisture but does not dry particularly well when wet.
