What type of padding is used for warmth?

Recognized for their excellent thermal insulation, down and feathers also offer a great warmth-to-weight ratio and compressibility. However, the warmth provided is a combination of the weight of down and feathers and the jacket’s expansion capacity. Together, they provide warmth and insulation from the cold. (Padding: 50% down and 50% feathers in the body, wadding 100 g/m² at the bottom of jacket and arms, 60 g/m² on the collar).

What is a membrane and what’s it for?

The membrane is a very fine component applied to the inner surface of the outer jacket fabric. This component prevents water from seeping in while wicking away perspiration. The membrane is unbeatable when it comes to keeping you warm and dry.

How is the water resistance of a jacket measured?

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a water resistance of 8,000 mm therefore withstands the pressure exerted by 8,000 mm of water.

Which parts of the jacket protect me from bad weather?

The 500 Ski Jacket is made of sturdy, water-resistant materials that reduce wind chill for better protection against the elements (rain, snow, wind, etc.). To check its waterproof rating, this jacket was tested under a special shower test that replicates the conditions skiers have to face. This jacket’s waterproofing was field-tested in various weather conditions for several days.

What is the water-repellent feature of my jacket for?

Water repellency is a material’s ability to let water bead off the surface without being absorbed. This jacket features water-repellent components that improve its weather resistance. The exterior surface of the fabric is treated to make it water-repellent.

How to reactivate your jacket’s water repellency

Bear in mind that the water repellency can be reactivated. To do this, you can use a waterproof spray (sold in our stores): spray evenly over the entire garment, then allow to dry for 10 to 12 hours.

What is a breathable jacket?

This jacket wicks perspiration away. To determine a fabric’s breathability, we measure its resistance to evaporative heat (RET) based on a standardized ISO 11092 test. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric.The 500 Ski Jacket has a RET of 11. However, it is Wedze’s technical solutions (zippers, vents, mesh) that reduce condensation and maximize breathability.

How does the 500 Ski Jacket fit?

Slim fit. The jacket has a straight cut instead of a fitted cut. This jacket is roomy enough to be worn over a first and second technical layer.

Staying warm on the slopes

To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer technique: - Layer 1 or base layer, to stay dry. - Layer 2 or insulating layer, to keep the heat in. - Layer 3 to protect against the elements.

Keeping snow out if you fall

The snow skirt adjusts automatically, and adjustable cuffs block drafts and snow, especially in the event of a fall.

How do I wash my jacket?

* Close all the zippers on the jacket. * Turn it inside out. * Machine wash at 30°C on the delicate cycle with little detergent and no fabric softener.Important:Set to a very gently spin cycle (less than 800 rpm): Too strong a spin could create feather balls that are difficult to undo. * Perform a second or third rinse cycle to make sure that any remaining detergent from the previous wash has been eliminated.

How to dry your jacket

Tumble dry (strongly recommended). * Gentle or delicate cycle. * Put 2 clean, ideally white, tennis balls in the drum of the dryer. * Dry on several long cycles to dry completely. * Shake the down between cycles to break up any clumps that formed during washing. If you do not have a dryer, the process is longer (drying flat can take one to two weeks). Make sure you pat the jacket to avoid clumps (at least 4–5 times).
