The Lynx, the master of snowy conditions, inspired your boot’s design: large paws protected and insulated against the cold and pads made for easy movement and agility on the snow.

We chose an ultra-warm, high-volume, insulating lining to give you effective protection from the cold. 
Lab- and field-tested with hikers. We verified the comfort temperature both at rest and walking as this can vary significantly: -10°C when stationary and -19°C when walking. We also considered how men and women feel the chill differently.

Are my boots warm enough for winter hikes?

Your boots are designed with leather and a membrane to guarantee waterproofing and breathability. A membrane is an extremely fine component (5 to 25 micrometres) affixed to the inside of a fabric that prevents water from entering but allows moisture to escape. The high upper with an elastic gaiter protects against the cold and prevents snow from entering while the midsole gives you perfect insulation. Your feet will be well protected, warm, and dry.

How do my boots protect me from outdoor conditions?

We made sure that your boots are waterproof by conducting laboratory tests that simulate walking with the boots half-submerged in water. We also conducted field tests to measure wear and aging. We tested 3 levels of waterproofing: 2,000 flexes (approx. 4-km hike), 4,000 flexes (approx. 8-km hike), and 8,000 flexes (approx. 16-km hike). This boot has been tested for up to 4,000 flexes, equivalent to an 8-km hike.

Are my boots 100% waterproof?

Thermal comfort is a balance between warmth and breathability. Too much heat or not enough breathability lets moisture accumulate and cold set in. Inspired by your activities, a membrane prevents water infiltration on one side and lets moisture escape on the other.

A boot’s traction depends on tread number and shape. The grip depends on the sole materials and the tread pattern, like car tires. Traction optimizes propulsion, prevents slipping when going uphill, and stabilizes the boot. 
Grip prevents the boot from slipping and skidding on smooth ground or in demanding conditions (rain, snow, and ice).

What is the difference between traction and grip?

Boots with Snow Contact soles provide maximum grip comfort for hiking and traction on snow. The location and height of the studs (5 mm) is inspired by lynx paws; they are spaced strategically for optimal grip when hiking on snow on steep terrain. The lugs are designed to grip hard snow and evacuate excess water to avoid slipping.

The material and tread of Snow Contact soles are specifically designed for optimal grip and traction. Snow Contact soles are more effective on snow than traditional soles. When walking on ice, adding anti-slip grips to your boots is the only way to ensure optimum safety.

The support provided by your boots is essential for your walking comfort. Good support optimizes your ascent and descent over hilly terrain, prevents your foot from sliding in the boot, and reduces blisters. The boots save you energy, reducing fatigue. This is especially important when snowshoeing.

Why is support important in a hiking boot?

This product was lab-tested by our engineers to ensure your total satisfaction. We tested the following elements: tear resistance of eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of outsole and upper components, and accelerated aging.

Will my boots withstand regular use in the long term?

This material is waterproof and naturally breathable. 
Warm in the winter and cool in the mid-season, leather naturally regulates the temperature of the boot.

Why choose a leather snow hiking boot?

Follow these guidelines for winter activities: Warmth: wear warm socks (ideally with a good percentage of wool).
Breathability: choose socks based on the intensity of the hike and make sure they’re breathable, to minimize moisture accumulation.
Boot height: the height of the sock should correspond to the height of the boot—for more protection, choose higher socks.

The right footwear for hiking in snow

Water repellency is a fabric’s capacity to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. It prevents the fabric from soaking up water, keeping it lightweight, warm, and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. This treatment needs to be reapplied throughout the product’s lifetime. Products for this purpose (spray and liquid) are available in our stores.

How to preserve the technical qualities of the boots

This product is guaranteed for two years from the date shown on the sales receipt. A product covered by the warranty will be exchanged free of charge. The warranty covers product defects, excluding those resulting from normal wear and tear or improper use.
