Lab- and field-tested with hikers. We verified the comfort temperature both at rest and while walking as this can vary significantly: -13°C when stationary and -23°C when walking. We also considered how men and women feel the chill differently.

Are my boots warm enough for my winter hikes?

Your boots have a membrane to guarantee waterproofing and breathability. A membrane is a very fine component (5 to 25 micrometres) affixed to the inside of a fabric that prevents water from entering but allows moisture to escape.

How do my boots protect me from outdoor conditions?

We made sure that your boots are waterproof by conducting laboratory tests to simulate walking with the boots half-submerged in water. We also conducted field tests to measure wear and aging. We tested 3 levels of waterproofing: 2,000 flexes (approx. 4 km/2.5 mile walk), 4,000 flexes (approx. 8 km/5 mile walk) and 8,000 flexes (approx. 16 km/10 mile walk). Your boots were tested to 4,000 flexes, which is equivalent to 8 km of hiking.

Are my boots 100% waterproof?

Traction depends on the number and shape of the studs. The grip depends on the materials of the sole and the tread pattern, like car tires. Traction optimizes propulsion, prevents slipping when going uphill, and stabilizes the boot. 
Grip prevents the boot from slipping and skidding on smooth ground or in demanding conditions (rain, snow, and ice).

What is the difference between traction and grip?

Boots with Snow Contact soles provide maximum grip and traction when hiking on snow. The positioning and height of the lugs (5 mm/0.19”) ensure optimal grip when hiking on snow. The lugs are designed to grip hard snow and evacuate excess water to avoid slipping.

How much grip and traction does this boot provide?

The material and tread of Snow Contact soles are specifically designed for optimal grip and traction. Snow Contact soles are more effective on snow than traditional soles. When walking on ice, adding anti-slip crampons to your boots is the only way to ensure optimum safety.

What are the advantages of Snow Contact technology?

This product was lab-tested by our engineers to ensure your total satisfaction. We tested the following elements: tear resistance of eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of outsole and upper components, and accelerated aging.

Will my boots withstand regular use over the long term?

Follow these guidelines to stay warm in the winter:Warmth: wear warm socks (ideally with a good percentage of wool).
 Breathability: choose socks based on the intensity of the hike and, to minimize moisture, make sure they’re breathable.
Boot height: the height of the sock should correspond to the height of the boot—for more protection, choose higher socks.

How do I choose the right footwear for hiking in the snow?

Water repellency is a fabric’s capacity to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. It prevents the fabric from soaking up water, keeping it lightweight, warm, and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. This treatment needs to be reapplied throughout the product’s lifetime. Products for this purpose (spray or liquid) are available in our stores.

How to preserve the technical qualities of the boots

This product is guaranteed for two years from the date shown on the sales receipt. A product covered by the warranty will be exchanged free of charge. The warranty covers product defects, excluding those resulting from normal wear and tear or improper use.
