1 - Classic 550 Cross-Country Skis: the best balance between grip and slide!

You’re a regular cross-country skier who has mastered the basics. To you, cross-country skiing is not only a form of escapism, it’s also an opportunity to exercise in a natural environment. The 550 Cross-Country Skis are ideal for intermediate skiers, offering the best balance between grip and slide. A balance between slide, lightness, rigidity, grip, and freedom, with a binding you can adjust without tools.

2 - A special camber for a customized ski.

Cross-country skis have a camber to make the ski springy and resist the downward force of the skier’s weight. To provide grip in classic cross-country skiing, the ski must bend under the skier’s weight so that the grip zone is in contact with the snow. However, the grip zone must not be in contact with the snow when gliding. It is important to choose the correct ski camber according to your weight and level of ability to obtain the right combination of grip and glide.

3 - Choosing the right size

Choose the size of your skis according to your level and weight Soft camber - 50kg to 60kg (110 lb to 132 lb) = 188cm Medium camber - 60kg to 70kg (132 lb to 154 lb) = 188cm - 65kg to 75kg (143 lb to 165 lb) = 195cm - 75kg to 90kg (165 lb to 198 lb) = 202cm Hard camber - 90kg to 110kg (198 to 243lb) = 202cm - 100kg to 130kg (220 to 287lb) = 207cm If you are between 2 sizes: - For comfort, choose the smaller size to ensure manoeuvrability. - For more intensive use, choose the larger size.

4 - Skin grip: simple!

Grip refers to the underside of the ski. It helps you avoid slipping while providing smooth glide performance. There are 3 grip systems: fish scales, grip wax, or skins. The 550 Skis are equipped with 100% mohair skins. The skins give you identical grip on both skis, do not make any noise, and do not require waxing.

Changing your skins

If your ski touring skins are worn, you can order new ones and get them changed in store. Ski size 181/188 cm => 4229194 (ref.) 195/202/207 cm => 4229195 (ref.)

5 - Xcelerator bindings are the technology that increases your speed!

All our skis are sold with Rottefella bindings that are compatible with the NNN, Prolink, and Turnamic standards. The 550 Skis with skins are equipped with Rottefella Xcelerator bindings, which let you find the perfect position to optimize push-off. You can easily move the binding without tools to adapt it to your needs.

6 - A sintered base for superior glide performance.

The base is the part of the ski in contact with the snow. It is made of polyethylene (HDPE), which can be extruded or sintered during the manufacturing process. The sintered base of the 500 Classic Cross-Country Skis is made from high molecular weight plastic powder that is heated, compressed, and cut into slabs. This process produces a denser base and delivers superior glide and durability.

7 - Waxing, the key to durability

We recommend waxing the underside of new skis for optimal glide. Several consecutive waxes are best to build up a proper base. To keep skis in top performing condition, remember to wax them often! Check out tutorials on how to wax your skis on our Inovik YouTube channel.

Glossary = construction of a ski

Our skis are made using a “sandwich” structure: different materials are layered in the core of the ski and across its width. The final product is assembled with a press. Core = the centre of the ski: Wooden (solid or grooved) or composite (honeycomb or Nomex®) Base = the part in contact with snow, made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) Grip = the underside of the ski Sidecuts = a ski’s width at the nose, waist, and tail

Please print camber / flex and weight range on ski
Michael

: 2 week or less

: en_CA

Hi, Really good entry level skis. However, since we have multiple skis in the family, some of the same length however different camber / flex firmness. It would be greatly appreciated that future iterations of the ski have the flex and weight range printed on them with an in

delible ink. Very much like what everyone else in the industry does. It would save me from having to write on the skis with a marker.

Brand''s answer:

Hello Michael, Thanks for your review ! We are very happy to hear that you enjoy your 550 skin skis. You are also perfectly right about the weight range and flex that could be written with indelible ink directly on the skis. We will try to improve this point in the future.Enjo
