Main Material

  Textile dyeing requires a lot of water and produces wastewater from the dye baths. We use a bulk dyeing process that involves adding the colour pigments when the thread itself is produced to reduce the environmental impact.

A self-inflating mattress is made of an airtight envelope glued to an open cell foam in which the air circulates. When unfolded, the mattress fills with air, returning to its original shape and thickness (4.5 cm/2” for the Comfort mattress). However, you will need to inflate it partially by mouth to adjust the pressure to your liking. 
Self-inflation is more effective on some mattresses, depending on the thickness.

The principle of a self-inflating mattress

Unroll your mattress as soon as you set up camp. Leave the valve open to make pre-inflation easier. A self-inflating mattress inflates itself to about 80%. You will need to blow up the rest yourself, so you can adjust the pressure to your desired level of comfort.
Note: choose your mattress width according to your tent’s interior measurements.

Classic dome structure: Fit the poles on the inner tent, then attach the flysheet over it. Reverse the process to unpitch.In case of wind, attach the guy ropes that are provided in the tent bag.

Pitching/folding

We recommend using the tent with the self-inflating or trekking mattress measuring a maximum of 65 cm.

We do not recommend the use of inflating mattresses over 6 cm in height due to the reduction in living space and resistance to condensation.

Mattress compatibility

1 high air vent at the back. Correctly position the lateral tent pegs to maintain a space between the flysheet and the ground all around the tent. The air circulation between the bedroom and the flysheet will limit the natural phenomenon of condensation.

Ventilation

All Quechua tents are tested in the lab (whole tent under 200 L/sqm/h for 4 hours) and in the field.
Flysheet coated polyester PU 2000 mm, ground sheet polyethylene 120 g/m², all seams sealed with heat-sealed strips. The presence of a breathing polyester compartment underneath the flysheet avoids contact with condensation water drops which can form on the inside of the flysheet.

Waterproofing

We test all our tents in a wind tunnel on a turntable to expose each side of the tent to the wind. A properly pitched tent with all guy lines fitted around the tent must remain habitable in wind speeds up to 40 km/h near the ground (Force 5).

Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces waste water from the dye baths. To reduce environment impact, we use dope dying on one yarn out of two (Bi-ton). So that's why your product is grey.

Usage temperature:

Sleeping bags do not produce heat but rather retain body heat. 
This means these temperature ratings depend on the person’s resistance to cold (body type, fatigue, etc.), equipment (mattress with insulation, etc.), clothing, and weather conditions (wet, windy, etc.).
If you are cold when you get into a cold, damp sleeping bag, you’ll probably feel cold, irrespective of the qualities of your sleeping bag!

What you need to know about temperatures

Choose a sleeping bag that’s appropriate for your child’s size. 
The more air there is to warm up, the more energy the body will use to stay warm, and the higher the risk of getting cold during the night.
Your child can lose a lot of heat from their head. 
In cold weather, put them to bed with a hat on.

Specifics for kids:

We recommend you use a washing machine with a minimum 7-kg (15 lb.) capacity and close the zippers on your sleeping bag.
