Softshell

Softshell is a high-tech fabric combining three materials: a windproof microporous membrane sandwiched between a water-repellent outer layer and a warm fleece inner layer. It provides thermal comfort yet is also lightweight and breathable, with enough stretch to ensure ease of movement.

Water repellency

This jacket is not waterproof. It is water-repellent thanks to its hydrophobic exterior coating, which causes water to bead and run off the fabric’s surface rather than becoming absorbed. This prevents the jacket from getting waterlogged, so it stays light and dries more quickly.

Breathability and RET index

Breathability is a fabric’s ability to let the body’s perspiration escape. It is measured by the fabric’s resistance to evaporative heat transfer (RET), a value expressed in m²Pa/W. The lower the value, the greater the breathability of the garment. RET 6–12: very breathable; RET 12–20: breathable; RET above 20: not breathable. The RET of this softshell jacket is 18.85 m²Pa/W.

Windproof

Protection from the wind is critical, as it can strip heat away from the body, whether you’re active or at rest. The wind chill index measures how the air feels when factoring in the wind and cold. For example, if the temperature is 5°C and wind speed is 30 km/h, it will feel like 0°C. If the temperature is 0°C and wind speed is 30 km/h, it will feel like -6°C. The materials used in our products help to counter wind chill.

Hood

The stowable hood offers great coverage without obstructing your vision. The seams are positioned so that the hood follows the movement of your head. You can adjust the height of the hood at the top and the width at the collar to stop the wind and cold from getting in. This hood has been tested for use with and without a waterproof jacket.

Water repellency maintenance

You can use a water-repellent spray or liquid to restore the jacket’s factory-applied coating and optimize its performance. This jacket’s water-repellent treatment can withstand up to 5 washes. After that, we recommend restoring the coating.
