From what we’ve seen on the field and through discussions with coaches, we took note of various needs when laying out exercises: marking points on the ground, dodging, etc. And so, the Essential collection was designed: It's made up of clever, affordable products that fulfil a major function (marking out drills, creating targets, etc.) to help you run fun, effective training sessions for all age groups. A unique design for more practical drills

A strong visual design is important. But a reliable, safe marker is even better. To test how durable the Essential cones are, we therefore ran all sorts of demanding field tests. Budding soccer players at the Kipstacademy had a whale of a time testing their durability by walking all over the cones!

Hand size changes with age. So choose your football accordingly.To choose the ball best suited to your body, we recommend
- a Junior ball between ages 10 and 12,
- a Youth ball between ages 12 and 14 
- and an official size ball after age 14.

How to choose the right football size

Kids can learn basketball from a very young age with smaller balls and adjustable hoops. 
You can even take them to special basketball lessons with child-friendly rules from the age of 3 or 4.
Learning proper technique and team work helps them develop motor skills.

Should you take your kids to basketball lessons?

The ball size depends on the player’s age and gender.
Size 1: Ages 3 and up
Size 3: Girls and boys ages 4 to 6
Size 5: Boys ages 7 to 11/Girls ages 7 to 13
Size 6: Boys ages 12 to 13/Girls ages 14 and up and women
Size 7: Boys ages 14 and up and men
For durability, choose a rubber ball. For a good ball feel, choose a leather or synthetic ball.

Which ball should you use?

The official height of a basketball net is 3.05 m [10'] (rim height).
If you want a basketball net for your child, you need something that will grow with them. 
There isn’t an official height for younger kids, so you can choose whatever suits them best.
Up to the age of 10, club nets are set at 2.60 m [8'6"]. 
After the age of 10, kids play with 3.05 m [10'] nets.

Type of Rebound

This hybrid ball was created after observing soccer players in action.
This ball's hybrid design combines the comfort of a machine-stitched ball with the durability of a hand-sewn one (the seams are on the inside).

Any defects are identified and evaluated through a series of lab tests.
These tests are used to compare the overall durability of our soccer balls with others available on the market.
Our aim is to offer the most durable products on the market.

This ball complies with official FIFA standards and weighs between 350 g and 390 g (12 and 14 oz.) in size 4.

How big is it? What’s the circumference?

Here’s how we test sphericity:
Average measured variation: 1.8% max (FIFA Basic standard).
We measure the ball’s sphericity at 4,500 different points and then examine any differences. 
If the discrepancy is greater than 1.8% (FIFA Basic standard), our engineers work on improving the sphericity to ensure a consistent bounce.

A round ball?

Here’s how we test pressure loss: We inflate the ball to the recommended pressure (11.6 psi).
The ball cannot lose more than 15% of its pressure over 72 hours, meaning a maximum pressure loss of 1.5 psi (FIFA Basic standard). The pressure after 72 hours must be approximately 10.1 psi.
This also means that it’s quite normal for a ball to lose pressure after a few days.

Here’s how we test water absorption:
To simulate rainy playing conditions in a lab, we put the ball in 2 cm (1") of water on a pivoting support and subject it to 250 compressions.
At the end of testing, the ball must have absorbed no more than 15% of its weight (FIFA Basic certification).

We’ve also tested how much water the ball absorbs.

Here’s the bounce test: 
The ball is dropped onto a steel plate 10 times from a height of 2 m (2 yd).
The bounce height must be between 115 cm and 155 cm (45 and 61"), with a maximum difference of 10 cm (4") between its highest and lowest bounce.

It’s all about the bounce

The most rigorous test we put this ball through is the shooting machine test.
The ball must resist 2,500 shoots against a concrete slope at 50 km/h (30 mi/h) at a distance of 2.5 m (3 yd).
At the end of the test, we check:
- The ball’s general condition: Stitching must remain intact
- Circumference: Must not have varied by more than 1.5 cm (1/2")
- Sphericity: Must not have varied by more than 1.8%
Pressure: Pressure loss must not exceed 12.5%

The environment is something that is very close to our hearts, so we worked hard to reduce these cones’ environmental impact. In addition to optimising the consumption of materials and eliminating the packaging, these markers are produced as close as possible to our stores to reduce transport emissions: in Portugal for our European stores, and in China for our Asian stores.
The result is a 14% drop in CO2 emissions.
