How to adjust your backpack

Put heavy items at the bottom. Pack clothing around these items. Keep your waterproof jacket and/or fleece in an easy-to-access location. Place small, frequently used items in the pockets (sunscreen, map, glasses, etc.). Put your water bladder in the compartment provided along the back and water bottles in the outside pockets.

How to pack your backpack

These components were validated through laboratory tests: fabric, buckles, straps, foam, and zippers. For example, we test the fabric’s resistance to abrasion and tearing, colourfastness when subjected to UV light and washing, and waterproofing. We also use a dummy to reproduce several years’ hiking movement to check for resistance to wear and tear.

How to choose your size

Tests were conducted to reproduce the ageing effect of hiking backpacks. These tests were conducted on the components, seams, and finished product. Our hiking bag design guarantees 20,000 zipper openings/closings, 10,000 drops etc., equal to 10 years from the date shown on the sales receipt.

10-year warranty / Our tests

The warranty covers backpack defects, except those caused by normal wear and improper use. This special 10-year warranty is only valid if you present both the product and receipt. If the product is covered by the warranty, we will repair or exchange it free of charge. This sales warranty does not affect federal/provincial laws.

Pack your sleeping material on the bottom of the bag and heavy items closer to the back. Slide your water pocket into the compartment.
At the top of the bag, store your waterproof jacket and polar fleece within arm’s reach. 
Put your sunscreen, map, cap and sunglasses in the pockets. Cereal bars or your cellphone can be stored in the belt pockets for quick access. 
The straps under the bag can also be used to attach a compact tent.

How to pack my backpack

It is recommended that you never carry more than 25% of your body weight as you risk hurting your back. 
Even the best bag with perfect adjustments could injure you if too heavy.

How much weight can I carry?

1 - Loosen all the straps: shoulder straps, belt, load-adjustment straps (these are the small straps above the shoulder straps)
2 - Put on the bag. 
3 - Close the bag's belt, positioning it at the hips then tighten it until it feels firmly in place 
4 - Tighten the bag’s shoulder straps 
5 - Tighten the chest strap (not too tight to affect breathing)
6 - Adjust the load-adjuster straps (the bag will cling closely to the shoulders)

How is the volume measured?

We recommend hand-washing your backpack. Use soapy, lukewarm water, with a brush if needed, focusing on the areas in contact with the body (shoulder straps, back, waist belt). 
This is the best way for the fabric properties to be maintained, particularly the waterproofness. 
Then rinse well with lukewarm water, dry in a dry place away from heating sources and sunlight. Store in a dry place.

The back of this new bag has been fully reworked for greater comfort: a tight net with a frame gives you more space between your back and the bag to reduce the damp back effect. The mesh net used for the back is also softer than on previous models. What’s more, this new model comes in 2 sizes, small and large. 
The 2 side pockets are more spacious and stretchy, and it’s easier to access a flask on the side.

Differences from the old MH 500 model

During several field tests with hikers of different sizes, we noticed that between 20 and 40 litres, the difference in comfort was mainly linked to the back height of the bag: people with a small frame feel better with a bag that doesn’t have a very big back, and people with a bigger frame feel more comfortable with a larger back bag. Our models come in 2 sizes to meet these requirements.

Why 2 sizes?

The bag can hold a 1-litre, 2-litre, or 3-litre water bladder. However, it will take up space that could be used for storing other belongings.
The side pockets are designed for flasks of a maximum of 1 litre.

Hydration

The colour was chosen because it’s important to stay visible in the mountains in case of an emergency. The orange colour makes it visible from a helicopter. 
It’s also visible on the road when cycling.

Why are our rain covers orange?

When travelling by plane, the maximum approved dimensions for cabin baggage are 55 x 35 x 25 cm. This may vary across airlines. 
This bag can be used as a carry-on bag as long as it’s not overloaded.

Pack sleeping gear at the bottom and heavy items closer to the back. Slide your water bladder into the special compartment.
Store your waterproof jacket or fleece at the top for easy access.

During several field tests with hikers of different sizes, we noticed that the difference in hiker comfort mainly involved the height of the back of the bag, between 20 and 40 litres. Our backpacks therefore come in two sizes for improved comfort. If you are taller than 170 cm, go for size L. If you are shorter than 170 cm, you will be better off with a size S.

Which size should you choose?

The bag can hold a 1-litre, 2-litre, or 3-litre water bladder. However, it will take up space that could be used for storing other belongings.
The side pockets are designed to hold 1-litre water bottles.

When you are travelling by plane, the authorized carry-on luggage size is 55 x 35 x 25 cm maximum. This can vary depending on the airline. 
This bag can be used as carry-on luggage as long as you don’t load the top too much.
