What is the temperature rating (lower limit at which you feel comfortable)?

In the context of this standard, the measurement protocol of a sleeping bag’s thermal protection uses a mattress with thermal resistance equal to an R-value of 4.8.

This means that when using a less insulating mattress, the thermal performance of your sleeping bag will be lower.

An important clarification concerning the ISO 23537-1 standard

Dress simply (1 layer of clothing is enough). Warm up your extremities: hats, gloves, socks, hand/feet warmers, rubdowns, etc. A container of hot water can be used as a hot water bottle (as long as there’s no chance of it accidentally opening!). 
Contract your muscles (70% of the energy consumed is converted into heat) but do it without moving, as this could create a draft. 
Use a bag liner to optimize warmth and avoid washing your sleeping bag too frequently.

On a hike, your sleeping bag may get scratched or snagged—it happens! The good news is that it can be repaired to prevent the tear from getting bigger or the synthetic fibres from escaping.
To do this, we recommend that you use self-adhesive repair patches (ref: 8584596).

Waterproofing

Our tents are certified by the CSTB independent laboratory in Nantes, France.

To reduce condensation inside the tent, it must be correctly assembled with a taut canvas, but not excessively so. The use of the air vent and good air circulation reduce moisture inside.

Ventilation and condensation

Three-season tent: your tent will protect you from the harsh weather conditions you may encounter in the spring, summer, or fall. It will withstand light snowfall but is not designed to withstand heavy loads that would weigh down the structure.
In the event of snow, shake your tent regularly to remove any snow that has accumulated and avoid putting too much weight on the structure of your tent.

Seasons

Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces wastewater from the dye baths. 
To reduce environmental impact, for the grey fabric on the bedroom we use a process called “bi-ton” which only dyes one out of every two threads. This dyed thread is made using a bulk dyeing process that incorporates colour pigments from the yarn manufacturing phase onward.This process reduces this product’s CO2 emissions

Usage temperature:

Sleeping bags do not produce heat but rather retain body heat. 
This means these temperature ratings depend on the person’s resistance to cold (body type, fatigue, etc.), equipment (mattress with insulation, etc.), clothing, and weather conditions (wet, windy, etc.).
If you are cold when you get into a cold, damp sleeping bag, you’ll probably feel cold, irrespective of the qualities of your sleeping bag!

What you need to know about temperatures

Choose a sleeping bag that’s appropriate for your child’s size. 
The more air there is to warm up, the more energy the body will use to stay warm, and the higher the risk of getting cold during the night.
Your child can lose a lot of heat from their head. 
In cold weather, put them to bed with a hat on.

Specifics for kids:

We recommend you use a washing machine with a minimum 7-kg (15 lb.) capacity and close the zippers on your sleeping bag.

The R-value measures thermal insulation. Thermal insulation is the ability of a mattress to retain heat or prevent heat from escaping from a warm body to a cold floor.

What R-value do you need?

Once you are lying down, remember to adjust the inflation pressure of the mattress by lightly pressing the “in” valve (open cap). A mattress that is too hard is often uncomfortable.

Silicone patches on the top of the mattress are designed to stop your sleeping bag from sliding.

Tips for sleeping well on your mattress

An inflatable mattress is not puncture-proof, but it can be repaired.
Take every care when installing and handling it.
