We measure a fabric’s resistance to water pressure in mm of water column (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure a fabric can withstand, the more waterproof it is.
Waterproofing ratings:
Component resistant to water pressure of 15,000 mm before and after ageing (5 washes). This is equal to 15,000 Schmerber (the average pressure exerted during rainfall).

To find out if a fabric is breathable, we measure its resistance to evaporative heat transfer (RET). The lower the RET, the easier it is for water vapour generated during physical exertion to pass through the fabric.
For example:
RET < 9 = very breathable;
RET 9–12 = breathable.
 
     

This jacket stays lightweight and breathable in wet conditions because water
slides off the treated fabric instead of seeping in. The water-repellent coating applied to the jacket’s exterior may change over time.
To restore it, place the jacket in the dryer for 10 minutes at the lowest temperature.

Water repellency

To preserve its water-repellent coating, do not wash this jacket too often.
Close all zippers and flaps, empty all pockets, and turn the jacket inside out. Wash it on the synthetics cycle at 30°C or 40°C with your usual detergent. Don’t use fabric conditioner or bleach, as these could damage the water-repellent coating. Very important: Choose a full-rinse cycle or extra rinse.

How to wash your jacket

Drying is a crucial phase in restoring the water-repellent treatment.
We recommend laying your garment flat on a clothes rack to dry. Warning: Never dry your jacket directly on a radiator.
Next, put your garment in the dryer and run a short synthetics cycle (10–15 min.) before turning it right-side-out. Caution: Do not over-dry the garment.

Thermal insulation keeps your young skiers at just the right temperature. This garment adapts to the body’s movements and the conditions. Wedze uses wadding for insulation to keep the body warm. Wadding is a synthetic component made from polyester that stores air depending on the length of the fibres. The thicker the wadding, the more air it contains and the warmer it is.

The coating is a waterproof substance on the inside of the jacket fabric’s exterior. It prevents water from seeping into the garment but allows perspiration to escape. This keeps kids dry and comfortable.

We use 90% recycled wadding for this padded jacket.
The filling for the lining has three essential qualities for hiking:
- good thermal insulation capacity, even when wet
- breathability and is recommended for dynamic activity (down is recommended for static activity)
- good compressibility: padding is highly compressible.

Synthetic padding provides insulation.

This functional feature is obtained by applying a hydrophobic treatment to the fabric. This process means that water rolls off the fabric without being absorbed. As a result, the garment remains lightweight, breathable, and warm.
This treatment can be reapplied throughout the product’s lifetime. Apply sprays on the outside instead of using additives during washing, as these additives can damage the product’s breathability.

Technical details:

1/ Machine wash (30°C): Fasten rip-tabs and use mild detergent. Wash jackets and pants inside out. Textile dyeing requires a lot of water and produces wastewater from the dye baths. We use a bulk dyeing process that involves adding the colour pigments when the thread itself is produced to reduce the environmental impact.

Created in our international design centre at the foot of Mont Blanc in France, these pants are then manufactured and assembled by our suppliers in Vietnam and Bangladesh.
