We measure the water resistance of a fabric in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure a fabric can withstand, the more waterproof it is.

To find out if a fabric is breathable, we measure its resistance to evaporative heat transfer (RET). The lower the RET, the easier it is for water vapour generated during physical exertion to pass through the fabric.

Water repellency

To maintain the water-repellent properties, infrequent washing is recommended.
Close all zippers and flaps, empty all pockets, and turn the jacket inside out. Wash it on the synthetics cycle at 30°C or 40°C with your usual detergent. Don’t use fabric conditioner or bleach, as these could damage the material’s water-repellent coating. Very important: Run a full rinse cycle or extra rinse.

Washing your jacket

Drying is a crucial phase in restoring the water-repellent treatment.
We recommend laying your garment flat on a clothes rack to dry. Caution: never dry your jacket directly on a radiator.Next, put your garment in the dryer and run a short synthetics cycle (10–15 min.) before turning it right-side-out. Caution: do not over-dry.

How to restore water repellency

An ABCDE rating shows the environmental impact of a product. Put forward by ADEME, it takes into account production, transportation, usage, and waste generated at the end of a product’s life.

Product design our expertise

1/ Machine wash (30°C to 40°C): fasten hook-and-loop tabs and zippers. Use gentle detergent. Wash jackets and pants inside out. Loosen straps and elastics. 
2/ Avoid bunching the garment in the washing machine: this can damage it. 
3/ Do not mix garment types and colours. 
4/ Do not use bleach or fabric softener.
5/ Rinse thoroughly, followed by a gentle spin cycle.
6/ Hang to dry or tumble dry (minimum temperature, minimum duration).

The filling for the lining has three essential qualities for hiking:
- good thermal insulation capacity, even when wet

This functional feature is obtained by applying a hydrophobic treatment to the fabric. This process means that water rolls off the fabric without being absorbed. As a result, the garment remains lightweight, breathable, and warm.
