Waterproof

100% taped seams. 2-layer coating. 5,000 mm Schmerber.

Windproof

Fabric especially coated to reduce the cooling effect of the wind.

Pockets

2 closed pockets. Non-waterproof pockets.

Breathability

Very breathable coated fabric (RET < 12): less condensation.

Water repellent

Especially treated so water slides off the fabric surface.

Resistance to salt water

Materials and zips resistant to salt water and sea air.

Compact design

Compact enough to pack into one of its pockets.

Waterproofing 1/2

We measure the fabric resistance to water pressure in mm of water column (based on the JIS standard). The higher the water pressure a fabric can withstand, the more waterproof it is. Waterproofing ratings: Component resistant to water pressure of 5,000 mm before and after ageing (5 washes). This equates to 5,000 Schmerber - average pressure exerted by the water during rain. The jacket's waterproofing has been tested in a rain shower with 60 litres of water/m²/hour.

Waterproofing 2/2

- High collar - Injection-moulded plastic to avoid salt oxidation - Water-repellent components (water runs off the fabric) - 100% taped seams - Central opening features a flap with a drainage channel for optimal waterproofing

Hood

The hood is attached and doesn’t stow into the collar. Its depth is adjustable. Regulations prevent the addition of a drawstring on the collar. The hood visor and headband provide good coverage and a better hold. The high collar protects your neck.

Pockets

2 zip pockets on the front of the jacket for your hands or a few items. NOTE: Pockets are not waterproof.

Front zipper

The full-length zipper includes an inner flap that protects you from wind and water, and the collar has a soft flap to shield your chin.

Breathability

To find out if a fabric is breathable, we measure its resistance to evaporative heat transfer (RET). The lower the RET, the easier it is for water vapour generated during physical exertion to pass through the fabric. For example: RET < 9 = very breathable; RET 9–12 = breathable. This jacket has two components with the following RET values: > more resistant fabric: RET < 12 (or 3621 g/m²/24 h, JIS1099A standard) Lighter fabric: RET < 8 (or 2972 g/m² /2

Water repellency

This jacket stays lightweight and breathable in wet conditions because water slides off the treated fabric instead of seeping in. The water-repellent coating applied to the jacket’s exterior may change over time. To restore it, place the jacket in the dryer for 10 minutes at the lowest temperature.

How to wash your jacket

To maintain the water-repellent properties, infrequent washing is recommended. Close all zippers and flaps, empty all pockets, and turn the jacket inside out. Wash it on the synthetics cycle (30°C–40°C) with regular detergent. Don’t use fabric conditioner or bleach, as these could damage the material’s water-repellent coating. Very important: Run a full rinse cycle or extra rinse.

How to restore your garment’s water repellency

Drying is a crucial phase in restoring the water-repellent treatment. We recommend that you lay your garment flat on a clothes rack to dry. Caution: Never dry your jacket directly on a radiator. Then place it in the tumble dryer on a short synthetics cycle, i.e. 10 to 15 minutes, before turning it back the right way round. Caution: Do not over-dry the garment.

Ideal for the wet, wild, west coast of Scotland. Great for layering with a gilet in cool weather. I don't sail; I hike. This jacket has been ideal for hiking in the west of Scotland. I'm a petite lady of 5 ft 1 inch, an the age 14-15 size fits me perfectly. A winner.
