On the chest, insulation protects the area most sensitive to the cold. The fabric is relatively thin on the stomach for greater comfort when wearing a hydration belt. The very stretchy fabrics on the arms and back provide great freedom of movement.

A fabric's water-repellent property is its ability to let water slide off its surface without soaking in. The fabric doesn’t soak up water and so remains lightweight, breathable and warm. It is made from a treatment on the outside of the fabric, which must be renewed (every 3 washes).

Water-repellent material means that water will run off it and won’t be absorbed. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. This keeps the fabric breathable.

We recommend the three-layer technique. 
Layer 1: A technical base layer that wicks away moisture to keep your skin dry.
Layer 2: An insulating layer (T-shirt, fleece) that provides warmth and wicks moisture outward.

The size chart for this sock is more precise than for other models in the range: One sock size covers three foot sizes instead of the usual four. This model also offers asymmetrical feet (differentiated right and left foot) for a perfect fit.

The waterproof component and the assembly prevent water from getting in. The seams are waterproof, and the zippers are also waterproof and under a protective flap. This jacket has been tested in a special shower that reproduces the conditions of the ski resorts, and in the field for several days in different weather conditions.

The RET, or the evaporative resistance of the material (ISO 11092 standard), is 12. The lower this rating, the more water vapour generated by the body evaporates.

What should you wear under your ski pants?

The water repellency of your pants should be reactivated regularly (every 3 washes). Over time, even though they remain waterproof thanks to the component, they seem to start absorbing water. To do this, use a reactivating spray or a treatment reapplication product.

Gentlemen, these cross-country skiing tights are your ally! In cool weather or at moderate speed, go cross-country skiing in comfort and style. 

Waterproof membranes have the disadvantage of not being very breathable. Cross-country skiing is an activity that requires intense physical exertion. The risk would therefore be to sweat a lot, and then get cold.
That’s why for your cross-country ski outfit, the materials used are water-repellent (water slides off the material) and not waterproof. 
Waterproof clothing is only recommended in heavy rain or snow when you are outdoors.

Why aren’t these tights waterproof?

These tights cover a wide temperature range, so that they can be worn for an extended part of the season. 
If it is very cold, you can add a technical breathable base layer underneath or windproof over-trousers on top. This three-layer technique also depends on each person’s sensitivity level to the cold.
