Drop is the difference in height between the front and back of the shoe. Scientific studies in our SportsLab research laboratory indicate that zero-drop shoes create a stride similar to running barefoot. This allows for better shock absorption, potentially strengthening your child’s muscles and tendons over time.

What are zero-drop shoes?

For a stride that’s as close as possible to running barefoot, AT Flex Shoes are based on four design principles:
- Zero drop and good flexibility so that the midfoot, rather than the heel, hits the floor first
- Light weight for a smooth stride
- Anatomical shape to minimize restricting the foot

Result: when the foot meets the floor, energy is transferred to muscles at the back of the leg, which are better able to absorb the impact.

What about the stride?

Design for these shoes is also based on parents’ feedback and athletic kids’ needs.

That’s why all our running shoes are made with breathable mesh uppers to wick away perspiration and prevent unpleasant odours. This fabric weighs less than synthetic leather and is more comfortable for running!
