Not all of our balls are made the same way. The panels can be stitched in different ways: machine stitched or hand-stitched for better resistance to wear, better shape retention, and better performance.

A ball’s grip is what lets you control it when passing and receiving.

Technical features

The R500 ball grip is the result of years of work with our technical partner Jean-Marc Doussain, Decathlon’s SportsLab teams, and the LMRCV and OMR rugby clubs.

This oval ball has a larger contact surface with the foot, making it more comfortable to kick.

Foot style

All our balls comply with World Rugby standards for match use.

For size 5:

Shape: the ball should be oval and made with four panels.
Dimensions:length: 280 to 300 millimetres (11” to 11.8”); circumference: 740 to 770 millimetres (29” to 30”); width: 580 to 620 millimetres (22.8” to 24”)

Leather or synthetic leather materials. 

Weight: 410 to 460 grams.

Air pressure at the start of the match: 65.71 to 68.75 kPa or 0.67 to 0.70 kg per cm²

World Rugby standards

Balls are available in different sizes. Size 5: age 15 and up
Size 4: ages 10 to 14
Size 3: ages 5 to 9 
Size 2 - Midi: ages 3 to 4
Size 1 - Mini:  under 3 years old

Choosing the right size

Our balls are designed in partnership with our technical partners Jean-Marc Doussain and Jonathan Wisniewski, who play professionally in the Top 14.
They help us improve our balls by getting involved in every step of the design process and during tests reproducing real-life playing conditions.
