What type of padding is used for warmth?

Recognized for their excellent thermal insulation, down and feathers also offer an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio and compressibility. The warmth comes from the weight of the down/feathers combined with the jacket’s fill power. This helps to trap air and insulate you from the cold. (Fill: 75% down and 25% feathers in the body, recycled 200 g/m² padding on the shoulders).

In addition to your jacket’s lining, the adjustable cuffs, snow skirt, waterproof zippers, high collar, and hood adjustments all conserve heat and keep cold air out.

What is a membrane and what’s it for?

The membrane is a very thin component applied to the inner surface of the outer fabric. It prevents water from seeping in while wicking away perspiration. A membrane is unbeatable when it comes to keeping you warm and dry.

How is the water resistance of a jacket measured?

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more the fabric is waterproof. Waterproof material with a rating of 10,000 mm withstands the pressure exerted by a 10,000 mm column of water.

Which parts of the jacket protect me from bad weather?

The 900 Ski Jacket is made of sturdy, water-resistant materials that reduce wind chill for better protection against the elements (rain, snow, wind, etc.). To check its waterproof rating, this jacket was tested under a special shower test that replicates the conditions skiers face. This jacket’s waterproofing was field-tested in various weather conditions for several days.

What is the water-repellent feature of my jacket for?

Water repellency is a material’s ability to let water bead off the surface without being absorbed. This jacket features water-repellent components that improve its weather resistance. The exterior surface of the fabric is treated to make it water-repellent.

How to reactivate your jacket’s water repellency

Bear in mind that the water repellency can be reactivated. To do this, you can use a waterproof spray (sold in our stores): Spray evenly over the entire garment, then allow to dry for 10 to 12 hours.

What is a breathable jacket?

This jacket wicks perspiration away. To determine a fabric’s breathability, we measure its resistance to evaporative heat (RET) based on the standardized ISO 11092 test. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. The 900 Ski Jacket has an RET of 12. However, it is Wedze’s technical solutions (zippers, vents, mesh) that reduce condensation and maximize breathability.

What is the fit of the 900 Ski Jacket?

Regular fit The jacket’s sides are straight rather than fitted. This jacket is roomy enough to be worn over a first and second technical layer.

Staying warm on the slopes

To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the three-layer technique: - Layer 1 or base layer, to stay dry. - Layer 2 or insulating layer, to keep the heat in. - Layer 3 to protect against the elements. Because the 900 Ski Jacket is very warm, you should only wear it with a second layer in extremely cold conditions.

Keeping snow out during falls

The snow skirt is a protection system at waist level that closes with snaps at the bottom of a ski or snowboard jacket. The snow skirt and adjustable cuffs keep snow and cold air out while skiing and in case of a fall.

How do I wash my jacket?

* Close all the zippers on the jacket * Turn it inside out * Machine wash at 30°C, delicate cycle with little detergent and no fabric softener. Important: set to a very gently spin cycle (less than 800 rev/min): too strong a spin could create feather balls that are difficult to undo. * Perform a second or third rinse cycle to make sure that any remaining detergent from the previous wash has been eliminated.

How to dry your jacket

Tumble dry (strongly recommended) * Gentle or delicate cycle. * Dry on several long cycles to dry completely. * Shake the down between cycles to break up any clumps that formed during washing. If you do not have a dryer, the process is longer (drying flat can take one to two weeks). Make sure you pat the jacket to avoid clumps (at least 4–5 times).
