Experience
The 500 Ski Boot is designed for advanced skiers looking for a simple and effective boot with unbeatable value for money. Easy to slip on and off with the joint on the top of the foot. The 4 micrometric aluminum buckles and a strap ensure secure tightening. The generous volume (102 mm/4”) and thick liner combine comfort and support. Fairly flexible (Flex 80), this boot provides good handling of skis with tolerance.
Buckle adjustment
The 500 Ski Boot has 4 aluminum micrometric buckles for powerful, precise tightening. Adjust the length of the buckle for the ideal fit. The 2 top hooks have 3 positions to fit every calf size (requires a screwdriver). A wide, adjustable strap on the upper provides a strong, easy closure at the top of the shell.
What is flex?
Brands assign a flex rating to every boot. The flex rating indicates how rigid the boot is: the higher the value, the stiffer the shell. A flex of 60–70 is considered best for beginner skiers. A 70–100 flex rating is for intermediate skiers. Higher ratings are for more advanced skiers. Heavier skiers, however, can go up a level.
What’s my boot size?
The size of ski boots is stated in Mondopoint size. It’s actually the length of the foot in cm. Place a sheet of paper underfoot and stand with your heels against the wall. Mark and measure the longer foot. For example, if your foot measures 27.2 cm (10.7”), you should choose size 27/27.5. A size 27 boot is exactly the same as a 27.5.
How do you know if the boot is the right size?
Once your foot is in the boot, fasten the buckles to the midpoint. Can you fasten it past this point? This means the volume of the boot isn’t right for you. Once the boot is closed, flex the boots three times by pressing hard on the shins (put your hands on your knees to help) and push your heel backward inside the boot. Stand upright: your foot should touch the end of the shell. When you flex, your foot should move backward so you can no longer feel the tip.
What should you do if you experience foot pain?
1- Choose a thin, technical ski sock to prevent pressure points and promote blood circulation in the foot. 2- Choose a sole adapted to the shape of your foot to prevent it from being squashed against the shell. Ask an in-store salesperson for advice.
How to store your ski boots
1- Air out your boots by removing the liner from the plastic shell. 2- Fasten the buckles at the first notch to prevent the boots from becoming deformed and, if possible, store them in a boot bag. 3- If possible, store them in a dry place above 10°C. The plastic shell will thank you for it!
