All our sleeping bags display the comfort temperatures tested by an independent laboratory, according to European standard ISO 23537. The Comfort rating is the lower limit at which the user is in general thermal equilibrium, feeling neither too cold nor too hot (for an average person in normal conditions of use). Use this rating to choose the sleeping bag that’s right for you.

Composition

A sleeping bag does not produce heat but retains the heat produced by the body. If you’re cold when you slip into a cold, damp sleeping bag, it’s very likely that you’ll feel cold no matter how good your sleeping bag is! These temperature ratings therefore depend on the user’s resistance to cold, equipment, clothing, and weather conditions.

What you need to know about temperatures

Dress lightly (just one layer of clothing is enough). Warm up your extremities: hats, gloves, socks, hand warmers, padding, etc. A bottle filled with hot water can keep you warm (as long as there’s no risk it will open accidentally!) Contract your muscles (70% of the energy consumed is converted into heat), but without making any movements that would create a draft.
You can use a sleeping bag liner so you won’t have to wash your sleeping bag as often.

Tips before getting into your bag

We recommend using a washing machine with a minimum capacity of 7 kg (15.5 lb) and closing the zippers before washing.
