We measure the fabric resistance to water pressure in mm of water column (based on the JIS standard). The higher the water pressure a fabric can withstand, the more waterproof it is.
Waterproofing ratings: 
Component resistant to water pressure of 5,000 mm before and after ageing (5 washes). This equates to 5,000 Schmerber average pressure exerted by the water during rain.
The jacket’s waterproofing has been tested in a rain shower with 60 litres of water/m²/h for 2 hours.

Jacket waterproofing 

To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporate resistance or RET (ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric’s resistance, the more moisture is evaporated, and therefore the higher the fabric’s breathability.
For example: 
RET < 9 = very breathable, 
RET 9–12 = breathable.
This jacket has two components with the following RET values: 
> more resistant fabric: RET < 12 (or 3621 g/m²/24 h, JIS1099A standard)
Lighter fabric: RET < 8 (or 2972 g/m²/2 

Breathability 

The hood is attached and doesn’t stow into the collar.
Its depth is adjustable. Regulations prohibit the addition of a drawstring on the collar.
The hood visor and headband provide good coverage and a better hold.
The high collar protects the neck.

Your jacket does not become waterlogged and remains lightweight and breathable. The water-repellent treatment applied to the external side of the fabric may alter over time. 

Water repellency 

Close all zips and flaps, empty all pockets, and turn the jacket inside out. Select a synthetics cycle (30°C–40°C) and use regular detergent. Don’t use fabric softener or bleach, as these can damage the water-repellent coating.

Don’t fold your garment too much when you place it in the washing machine. Do not overload.

Very important: Run a full rinse cycle or extra rinse to remove all detergent residue. 

Washing the jacket 

Drying is a crucial phase in reactivating the water repellent treatment.
First, lay the garment flat on a drying rack. The radiator? Forget it!
Once dry, put it in the tumble dryer on a short synthetics cycle (10–15 minutes), then turn it right side out. Do not over-dry.

Waterproof properties

Rinse with clean water after use.
Store in a dry place.
Wash as infrequently as possible to protect the water-repellent treatment.
Wash inside out, pocket zipped, on the synthetics cycle (30°C–40°C) with regular detergent. Do not use fabric conditioner. Do not overload your machine. Run extra rinse.
Line dry.
To restore its water repellency, tumble dry inside out on the synthetics cycle for 10–15 min.

How do you measure the grip?

This model comes in double sizes. It’s important to choose a size that fits snugly when you’re wearing your usual socks.
If it’s too big, you’ll experience chafing, poor foot support, and poor traction.

How to choose the right size

The top of the boot features a ridged strip that provides extra grip while you’re pulling it on.
A small jutting edge at the heel makes the boot easy to take off hands-free.

Easy to pull on and off

If water gets in through the top of the boot, remove the insole, rinse out the boot, and dry thoroughly by placing it upside down over a broom handle. Dry in a well-ventilated area. Keep away from heat sources.

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the JIS 1092 standard).The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with an impermeability of 5,000 mm will therefore withstand the pressure exerted by 5,000 mm of water (which corresponds roughly to a 1-hour downpour). Waterproofing is expressed in Schmerber units (for example: 5,000 Schmerbers). This number applies before washing.

A coating applied to the fabric makes it waterproof and windproof. Technically, a waterproof fabric is also windproof. Protection from the wind is critical, as wind can chill the body during physical activity.

This allows perspiration to escape during physical activity, preventing it from accumulating on the skin. 
The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric.
