Conditions for heating water
Heating time depends on several factors: the initial water temperature, outdoor temperature, ground type (concrete, grass, etc.), wind, sun, etc. To speed up heating, increase the surface area exposed to the sun by laying down the non-inflated shower. How water can also be added directly to the shower, but be careful the water temperature doesn’t exceed 50°C or you could risk damaging the product and causing yourself harm.
Recommended use
To help warm up the water, put the shower in the sun between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. We advise against putting it behind a car windscreen; our tests show that this could heat the water above 70°C. Keep in mind that the will temperature drops as soon as the sun fades. When you turn on the pressure, the valve will emit a ringing noise to signal it has reached maximum pressure: pump it up again when the pressure drops while in use.
Design tests - Standing shower
We gathered the following temperature readings after a heating test on the standing shower exposed to sunlight. The test was performed during an afternoon in mid-June in the south of France. The shower was standing, pressurized and filled with water to maximum capacity (10 L). Outside temperature of 25°C, barely any wind, 750 W/m² solar power. Initial water temperature: 22°C. In 3 hours, the water went from 22°C to 30°C. In 5 hours, the water went from 22°C to 35°C. In 6 hours and 48 minutes, the water temperature went from 22°C to 38°C.
Design tests - Flat-lying shower
You can improve heating time by increasing the area exposed to the sun: place the shower horizontally on a table or on the ground. Performance will improve if the test is performed under the same conditions but in an upright position.
Water temperature gauge
We added a water temperature gauge. The gauge starts when the water is at 30°C and goes up to 40°C. In all cases, it is recommended to let the water run a little before taking your shower to ensure that the water is not too hot.
Water visibility
We have added a window that lets you see the current water level.

Only just got round to trying this after buying it a few months ago. Although we were on a campsite with facilities, they were quite basic and would have been very busy had the site been full, so we decided to give it a full trial to see if it would be viable for use on a sit
e without any showers. Being just the two of us and with little sunshine at the end of the season, we only half filled the container and added two kettles of hot water. The result was a very pleasant all over wash, far better than washing in a bowl. It's better to simply rub yourself all over with the shower head to avoid wetting the tent and the results were fine. *Top Tip* We bought a 3ft children's paddling pool for inside our Khyam utility tent for £3 from Tesco's.

We used it for washing hair during a one month camper trip. Boiled up 2 litres of water and added to cold water and then filled the (floppy) tank. Insert the pump into the tank and pump it up until the vent releases over pressure. It is then ready to use. There was enough
water for two people for a quick shower/hair wash. You will need to pump it up a few more times while using, as the pressure drops, but that's quick and easy. It is also excellent when you want to wash your car or camper at the camp site, as you will have running water when you want to rinse off the suds (providing the campsite allows this).
