Cut

The knees are preformed, which allows you to move freely. These pants were made with two components: one designed for freedom of movement, the other for resistance to abrasion.

What should you wear under your ski pants?

To stay warm and dry, wear two or three breathable layers. In warmer weather, a breathable ski base layer adds comfort, warmth, and perspiration wicking. In the cold, our FR 900 Undershorts help keep you warm. In more intense cold, combine both breathable layers.

Water repellency

Water-repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. This helps the fabric stay light, breathable, and warm. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. This treatment needs to be reapplied during the life of the garment (recommended every three washes). All Wedze jackets are treated for water repellency.

Waterproofness

Fabric resistance is measured by the height of a water column in mm that a fabric can withstand (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. Waterproof material with a rating of 15,000 mm withstands the pressure exerted by a 15,000 mm column of water, roughly equivalent to a two-hour shower.

Breathability

To determine a fabric’s breathability, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). A lower evaporative resistance means more perspiration can escape, increasing the fabric’s breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric 12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric RET > 20 = little or no breathability

What is a membrane or coating?

The coating is like paint applied to the inside of the fabric, which makes it waterproof yet breathable. A membrane is a very thin plastic (polyurethane) film that makes the material waterproof while remaining breathable. Flexible, lighter, and more durable than a coating, a membrane tends to be more breathable.

How do we make a garment waterproof?

A garment’s waterproofness depends on its fabric, seam sealing, and assembly design. The garment undergoes shower tests.

Waterproofness/shower test

This garment was shower-tested under 100 L (26.5 gal) of water/m²/hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a heavy storm.

How do you make a garment breathable?

In addition to breathable materials, other technical features (zippers, vents, mesh) improve the overall ventilation of our ski jackets and pants. These ventilation features regulate the temperature inside the garment and help to eliminate perspiration.

This product is repairable. We commit to repairing your product free of charge for the duration of the warranty. If you need the seams, zippers, or another element repaired, contact your store. If we can’t repair your product due to a production defect, you can exchange it or get a refund.

What is the Recco® system?

All our Freeride jackets and pants are equipped with the Recco® system. With Recco® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Anyone buried in the snow equipped with Recco® reflectors can be quickly and accurately located by emergency services using the Recco® tracker. Recco® reflectors are not a substitute for an avalanche beacon. Recco® technology works as an additional safeguard, increasing the chances of being found in time.

Restoring the water-repellent properties

Follow care instructions when washing to preserve all the technical features. Link: After three washes, restore the water-repellent properties with a waterproof spray or wash-in product.
