How is usage temperature measured?
All our gloves are lab-tested on a thermal hand. The temperature ratings (recommended and limit) come from a study with a test panel of 23 hikers exposed to temperatures ranging from 5°C to -20°C and 10 km/h (6 mph) winds. These temperature ratings are only valid in hiking conditions. The MT 500 Fleece Gloves have been given a warmth rating of 1 out of 5. Recommended temperature: 5°C. Limit temperature: 0°C.
How to effectively protect your hands from the cold
Optimize insulation by applying the layering principle. Wearing liner gloves in addition to gloves creates several air pockets that effectively insulate your hands from the cold. The gloves must be big enough not to compress your fingers. This is because compression slows down blood flow in the fingers, which prevents them from staying warm.
