What is the "Softshell" multi-layer component?

Softshell is a highly technical fabric combining 3 materials: a breathable, windproof membrane sandwiched between a water-repellent fabric on the outside and comfortable, warm fleece on the inside. The properties of this material make it windproof, warm, breathable, and lightweight.

What does water repellent mean?

Not to be confused with waterproof! It is a quality obtained by applying a hydrophobic water-repellent treatment to the fabric. This process allows water to run off the surface of the fabric, limiting its ability to absorb water. Water repellency means that water doesn't soak into the outer fabric, so the hoodie stays light, doesn't retain moisture, and dries faster.
