When cross-country skiing or skiing off-piste, it has been shown that wrist straps increase the risk of injury in the event of a fall.
In the event of an avalanche, the pole and its wrist strap can also act as an anchor and increase the risk of becoming buried under the snow.
To reduce these risks, we have developed a removable wrist strap that detaches in the event of a fall.

Why use a removable wrist strap?

The poles have 95 mm wide baskets for good lift on soft snow.
They are designed to improve thrust on flat terrain thanks to the softer section. This makes it easier for you to progress during your cross-country skiing approaches.

What are the dimensions of the shovel?

Once the victim has been located with the ARB and the probe, unfold the telescopic handle and start digging to clear the snow that covers the victim.
On average, the shovelling lasts longer than the search for the victim. It must therefore be effective.

How do you use the compact Wilder avalanche shovel?

The mountains offer a scenic playground of adventure, but they also require a great deal of caution.
The use of the shovel/probe/ARB (avalanche rescue beacon) set is essential for locating and rescuing avalanche victims.
Please note that these three items are not intended to provide a feeling of absolute protection.

This lightweight probe equipped with an automatic locking system helps to efficiently locate avalanche victims. 

Length

In a single step, the probe unfolds and the sections quickly slot into each other.
The cable and the automatic locking system simplify its deployment thanks to the shouldered shaft located in the last section.

4 tightening settings available: the tighter the cable, the more rigid the probe.

How does the probe unfold?

Once folded, the probe can be stored in a 46 cm bag:
- 6 sections measuring 43 cm each for the 240 cm format
-7 sections measuring 43 cm each for the 280 cm format.

How do you store the probe?

The diameter of the cone-shaped tip is larger than that of the probe. This makes a larger hole in order to easily penetrate the probe into the snow piled up by an avalanche.
The probe consists of 7 sections and has been designed with a 12.5 mm diameter to be stronger when probing in hard snow.

What is the diameter of the probe?

Its long foam sleeve glued to the last section makes it easier to grip, even when wearing gloves.
The synthetic handle sewn onto the cable allows you to deploy the probe quickly.

Did you know? 
It’s important to wear gloves when probing to avoid contaminating the area with odours not belonging to the victims.

Is the probe easy to grip?

A first set of markings every 5 cm and more visible markings every 50 cm allow you to identify the depth at which the victim is located.

Ergonomic design

All our sock sizes cover 3 or 4 shoe sizes. The elastane helps the socks mould to your feet and stay in place. Foot length, size, and volume vary from person to person: that’s why it’s important to try your socks on before going skiing.
We always recommend choosing slightly small over slightly large socks.

Choosing the right sock size

The size chart for this sock is more precise than for other models in the range: One sock size covers three foot sizes instead of the usual four. This model also offers asymmetrical feet (differentiated right and left foot) for a perfect fit.

This sock is made with an anti-friction yarn.
Blisters are generally caused by socks, shoes, or foreign objects chafing feet. Humidity also plays a role, as it makes skin more vulnerable.
Chafing is reduced when the sock stays in place.
Some of our socks have anti-friction yarn to reduce irritation.
These socks do not provide 100% protection from blisters.

All our gloves are lab-tested on a thermal hand. The temperature ratings (recommended and limit) come from a study with a test panel of 23 walkers exposed to temperatures ranging from 5°C to -20°C and 10 km/h (6 mph) winds. These temperature ratings are only valid in walking conditions.
The MT 900 Gloves have a warmth rating of 3 out of 5. Recommended temperature: -5°C
Limit temperature: -10°C. 

How is usage temperature measured?

Just like you wear several layers of clothing when hiking, you can wear liner gloves under your gloves that will act as a thermal base layer. This multi-layer system enables pockets of air to form around your hands, efficiently insulating them from the cold. Remember to wear large enough gloves so your fingers do not become constricted. Compression reduces blood circulation in the fingers.

When worn as a third layer, this padded jacket has been certified for an active comfort temperature of -10°C during a standardized test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic, long-sleeved shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind. We also tested this product in static mode; the comfort temperature is 0°C in this case.

How warm is this padded jacket?

The fill power of down has 3 advantages for mountain hiking: 
- Thermal insulation, because of the air trapped in the down and feathers.
- Ultra-lightweight: down wadding is lighter than synthetic and provides the same warmth. This saves more weight in your backpack.
- Ultra-compressible.

The advantages of down and feather filling

Fill power is a measure of the down’s thermal insulation capacity and potential to trap air. It is expressed in cuin (cubic inches). Down with higher fill power will take up more space, trap more air, and provide greater thermal insulation. This jacket is filled with 90% down and 10% feathers and has a guaranteed fill power of 800 cuin (international standard) or more.

Filling weight

This washable down jacket can be worn all winter. But the less you wash it, the longer its thermal insulation and water repellency will last.
Our advice: 
1. Machine wash at 30°C with detergent specially formulated for down or technical garments. Use a gentle spin cycle. 
2. Tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls; repeat 2 or 3 times until completely dry.

How to care for down jackets

This fabric is water-repellent. Water repellency keeps the fabric lightweight and warm. It is recommended to wear a waterproof jacket over top in the rain. Treatment on the outer surface achieves water repellency, but the treatment can deteriorate with use. We recommend restoring it after each wash.

Water repellency (different from waterproofing)

After washing, we recommend using a water-repellent spray to prevent water absorption. This renews water-repellent properties and improves performance throughout the garment’s life cycle.

Fill with water between -20°C and 40°C. Do not fill with alcohol or dairy, etc.
In temperatures below 0°C, blow into the mouthpiece after use to flush out the water and reduce the risk of water freezing in the tube and mouthpiece.
Remove the air from your water bladder by turning the bladder and then directing the air bubbles to the tube while suctioning them.

Directions for use

Slider to fully open bladder and facilitate cleaning.
Sliding seal has hooks so you can hang the water bladder in compatible backpacks.
The mouthpiece has an on/off position (turn the grey part of the mouthpiece) to prevent leakage during hikes. To drink, place mouthpiece in the “on” position and then suck.

Clean the bladder and pipette after each use with standard dishwashing liquid. Use the Btwin brush and drying hanger kit (code: 631585), especially if you had a sugary drink. Do not leave liquid in the water bladder for longer than 24 hours. Do not put in the dishwasher or microwave.

Care instructions

Rinse the entire product 3 times with clean water before the first use.
