Helmets are designed to protect your head from a single impact. If you fall, you should replace the helmet even if there are no signs of damage: it may be weakened or cracked in an area you can’t see, and no longer provide adequate protection.
We recommend replacing your helmet every 5 years. Some of its components begin to age at this point, especially if stored in a cold or wet place. Manufacturing dates are printed inside the helmet.

We recommend wearing a helmet, elbow and knee pads, and wrist guards. You never know when you’re going to take a tumble!

Safety precautions

See the little tongue on the front of the boot? Simply move the rip-tab to the number desired. 1 for the smallest size, 2 for the middle size and 3 for the biggest. The space at the front of the foot is then freed up, thus gaining 2 sizes. Clever, eh?

Adjusting the size

The hardware kit, also called "stability kit", can be fitted to Play 3 and Play 5 inline skates of any size. This "stability kit" lets kids start in "tricycle" mode: It's the ideal way to increase stability on their first few rides to build up confidence.

When the little ones skate for the first time, parents tend to hold both their arms. It's an automatic reflex, but it's not a good idea. So how can the kids be helped? Take them somewhere with a handrail; tell them to walk with baby steps while holding the rail in one hand. They'll get there!

Unlike plastic, which skids, rubber provides good traction. This prevents slipping when your child pushes off and helps them brake effectively. What’s more, rubber wears less quickly than plastic.
Our teams work hard to keep your child safe, no matter their experience level. That’s why we chose to equip all our kids’ skates with rubber wheels and brakes.

Rubber or plastic wheels and brakes?

You can get wheels of all sizes and colours (even glow-in-the-dark ones), brakes, and screws on our website or at your local Decathlon workshop. All parts are easy to install.

Spare parts

Some parts of the wheels will wear out more quickly, so switch their positions regularly. 
Replace them once they’ve worn down to the first of the seven visible rings.

Size 3 for < 9 year olds.

How big is it? What’s the circumference?

Average measured variation: maximum of 2%.
We measure the ball’s sphericity at 4,500 different points and then examine any discrepancies. 
If the discrepancy is greater than 2% (FIFA Pro Standard), our engineers work on improving the sphericity to ensure a consistent bounce.

A round ball?

We inflate the ball to the recommended pressure (11.6 psi).
The ball cannot lose more than 15% of its pressure over the next 72 hours, meaning a maximum pressure loss of 1.5 psi. The pressure after 72 hours must be approximately 10.1 psi.
This also means that it’s quite normal for a ball to lose pressure after a few days.

To simulate rainy playing conditions in a lab, we put the ball in 2 cm of water on a pivoting support and subjected it to 250 compressions.
By the end of the test, the ball must not have absorbed more than 15% of its weight. For this ball, it means a maximum of 65 g.

We’ve also tested how much water the ball absorbs.

Between 125 and 155 cm (size 5) with a maximum difference of 10 cm between the ball's highest and lowest bounce. Each ball is dropped 10 times on a steel plate from a height of 2 m.Between 115 and 155 cm (42.3' and 61.0') for size 3 and size 4 balls.

It’s all about the bounce

The most demanding test this ball undergoes is the machine shot test.
The ball must resist up to 2,500 shots against an inclined flat concrete slab at 50 km/h at a distance of 2.5 m.
At the end of the test, we check:
- The ball’s general condition: Stitching must remain intact.
- Circumference: Must not have varied by more than 1.5 cm.

- Sphericity: Must not have varied by more than 2%.
- Air pressure: Pressure loss must not exceed 15%
