Main component 

The waterproof rating depends on two key criteria: component and construction. 
This product was made with a membrane.
The membrane is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof and breathable. 
It is flexible, lightweight, and breathable.

3-layer design: The membrane is glued between the outer and inner fabric. We use it for durable, high-performing jackets.

Layer design

Laboratory tests are conducted to guarantee the waterproof rating of a component. The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm.
The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. 
This product’s component has a 20,000 mm waterproof rating and can withstand the pressure of a 20,000 mm water column. 
This is equivalent to 20,000 Schmerber.

Component

We conduct laboratory tests that simulate rainfall to guarantee the jacket’s waterproof rating. 
This product was validated in a shower test under 18 cm of rain for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a mountain storm.

Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). 
This allows perspiration to escape during physical activity, preventing it from accumulating on the skin. 
The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric.

RET ≤ 20: not very breathable fabric 
This product as a RET of 6.

A fabric is water-repellent when water slides off its surface without being absorbed. Because the fabric doesn’t soak up water, it remains lightweight and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. This treatment needs to be reapplied throughout the product’s lifetime. Water repellency can be reactivated by putting the item in the dryer for 10 minutes on low heat.
You can also use a waterproofing spray (ref.: 8554908).

Fill with water between -20°C and 40°C. Do not fill with alcohol or dairy, etc.
In temperatures below 0°C, blow into the mouthpiece after use to flush out the water and reduce the risk of water freezing in the tube and mouthpiece.
Remove the air from your water bladder by turning the bladder and then directing the air bubbles to the tube while suctioning them.

Directions for use

Slider to fully open bladder and facilitate cleaning.
Sliding seal has hooks so you can hang the water bladder in compatible backpacks.
The mouthpiece has an on/off position (turn the grey part of the mouthpiece) to prevent leakage during hikes. To drink, place mouthpiece in the “on” position and then suck.

Features

Clean the bladder and pipette after each use with standard dishwashing liquid. Use the Btwin brush and drying hanger kit (code: 631585), especially if you had a sugary drink. Do not leave liquid in the water bladder for longer than 24 hours. Do not put in the dishwasher or microwave.

Rinse the entire product 3 times with clean water before the first use.

With Wrist Strap

This pole was designed and validated by our Mont Blanc team.
The pole is equipped with an external locking mechanism for precise, fast adjustment. Combined with a pushpin system so it unfolds and folds automatically. 
The handle allows multiple grips: along the tube for climbs and steep terrain, with the wrist strap for efficient pushing, and on the knob for descents.
Made from 7075-T6 aluminum for controlled weight.

Design

While holding the grip, your arm should bend at a 90-degree angle. To do this: 
- Pull the bottom strand all the way out until the auto pushpin (metal button) locks. 
- Open the lever of the external blocker. 
- Slide the tube to the desired length. 
- Close the lever. 
Never exceed the Stop line to avoid breaking the pole.

How to adjust your poles to the correct length

This hiking pole is designed to help you balance, propel yourself, and distribute weight between your arms and legs.
To be on the safe side, check before you set off and at regular intervals that your pole is locked in place by simulating heavy bumps. If you notice that your pole keeps sliding out of place, the locking mechanism turn ring needs adjusting. Open the lever and turn the knob a quarter to a half turn.
Do not put it on your backpack in case of a storm.

Proper maintenance of your pole will ensure that it functions optimally and lasts longer.
After use, if water has penetrated the pole, remove the strands and allow them to dry. If necessary, clean the dust or mud with water or a dry brush. Once dry, you can reassemble the strands.
Do not oil or grease the mechanisms.

Decathlon sells hiking and trekking poles individually. This is because they are used in different ways. Some people prefer to use only one pole. If someone uses a pair and one pole breaks, they can replace one broken pole without buying a new pair.

Why choose a hybrid construction for the MT 900 Hiking 
Pants?

The MT 900 Hiking Pants are water-repellent. They allow water to slide off the surface of the fabric. This product is water-repellent, not waterproof.

The water repellency prevents the pants from getting wet too quickly. However, this won’t be enough to keep you dry if you’re in steady rain. For intense rain, you will need a pair of rain pants like the MT 500 Rain Pants (ref.8736465).

Water repellency can be reactivated using a reactivating water-repellent spray (ref. 8800346).

Are the MT 900 Hiking Pants water-repellent?

The MT 900 Hiking Pants have several pockets:

All our gloves are lab-tested on a thermal hand. The temperature ratings (recommended and limit) come from a study with a test panel of 23 walkers exposed to temperatures ranging from 5°C to -20°C and 10 km/h (6 mph) winds. These temperature ratings are only valid in walking conditions.

How is usage temperature measured?

Just like you wear several layers of clothing when hiking, you can wear liner gloves under your gloves that will act as a thermal base layer. This multi-layer system enables pockets of air to form around your hands, efficiently insulating them from the cold. Remember to wear large enough gloves so your fingers do not become constricted. Compression reduces blood circulation in the fingers.
