At Decathlon, we make it a priority to offer you products that will make your children’s lives easier. Ziprotec lets you combine the jacket with the DBCK 500 Back Protector for snowboarding, skiing, and mountain biking.
It’s simple, Ziprotec is: 
 - An additional zipper on the inside of the jacket 
- A hook at the top of the back of the jacket.
If your child has their jacket on, they are protected from bumps.

What is Ziprotec?

– Freedom: Attach the back protector to your child’s jacket in the evening at the beginning of the ski trip or in the morning, when you leave. If your child has their jacket on, then they have their back protector on.
– Comfort: they’ll forget they’re wearing the back protector, as it moves with their body and, most importantly, it doesn’t ride up.
– Easy to remove: if they take off their jacket, they also remove the back protector, all at once.

Advantages

This kids’ snowboard and ski jacket is designed to prevent snow from getting inside: 
- on the back: snow skirt + long cut
- wrists (very exposed area): long sleeves and cuffs with thumb holes
- at the neck: collar with a high gusset and a hood with hook-and-loop tabs keep it rolled up in a high position, which protects the neck
The hood can also be worn over a helmet.

This jacket has been designed, developed, and tested with the 500 Protect Snowboard Mittens that go under the jacket so that kids can put the mittens through the sleeve on their own (ages 8 and up). There are several features to keep the snow out 
1. Jacket sleeve thumb loop prevents sleeves from riding up
2. Mittens reach high up the wrist
3. Jacket sleeves cover everything

This jacket has two different fillings to keep you warm:
- 150 g/m² for the body, with a fleece lining
- 100 g/m² on the sleeves

In addition to the waterproof fabric, we enhanced the waterproofing of the jacket with taped seams. These heat-bonded waterproof strips are placed on the inside seams to make it perfectly watertight. On this SNB 500 Snowboard Jacket, 100% of the seams are taped.

This Decathlon kids’ snowboard jacket was designed for regular to intensive snowboarding, so it has all the required pockets: 
- 2 side pockets with a zipper
- 1 external chest pocket with a zipper
- 1 interior mesh pocket for a neck warmer, goggles, etc.
- 1 ski pass pocket on the left sleeve with a zipper

When snowboarding, snow can get in the jacket during a fall. The collar and hood were designed to limit this unpleasant experience.
The hood keeps the snow out. Fold the hood in 4 and attach it with the hook-and-loop tab it so it stays up and fills the gap under the helmet.
The collar must be closed up to the top to keep everything tight.

The hood is designed to fit over a helmet in case of strong winds or heavy snowfall. 
Simply open the collar of the jacket by about 10 cm/3.94”, pull the hood over the helmet, and close the collar with the gusset (hook-and-loop tab closure). The gusset creates a well-protected area for the mouth and nose.

To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer technique: 
- Layer 1 or second skin, to stay dry. 
- Layer 2 or insulating layer, to keep the heat in.
- Layer 3 to protect against the elements.

We opt for components and assembly processes that make our ski and snowboard jackets as durable as possible.

How can I be sure that my jacket is strong and durable?

The jacket’s waterproof fabric is reinforced with taped seams. These heat-bonded waterproof strips are placed on the seams inside the clothing to make it perfectly watertight. All seams on this product are taped.

Water often gets in through the seams. Does my jacket have taped seams?

The water-repellent feature makes water run off the fabric without seeping in because of a treatment applied to its outer surface. The fabric does not soak up water and stays light and warm. This treatment must be renewed over the life of the product, after 2 or 3 washes on average, with products from our stores. All the waterproof jackets that we design for snowboarders and skiers are water-repellent.

How to wash the jacket

What does the jacket’s water-repellent feature do?

To keep the kids warm, we use wadding insulation. Wadding is a synthetic component made from polyester that stores air depending on the length of the fibres. Wadding can be standard, hi-tech, or silicone-coated, and each type has different properties (warmth, low weight, elasticity, etc.). We use 100% recycled wadding to reduce the product’s environmental impact.

How will this jacket keep me warm?

To optimize your product’s performance and durability, we recommend: Machine wash separately at 30°C. Synthetic cycle. Turn the product inside out. Use a small amount of detergent. Do not use fabric softener. Wring by hand. Dry on a hanger in a warm, well-ventilated place. Do not dry clean. Do not place on a heater or radiator. You can restore the water resistance of the outer fabric with a fabric waterproofing spray. 

How do I look after my product?

This product is repairable. We commit to repairing your product free of charge for the duration of the warranty. If you need the seams, zippers, or another element repaired, contact your store. 
However, if we can’t repair your product (production defect), we will exchange it or reimburse you.
